F, b. September 24, 1920, d. May 10, 2004
Her Social Security Number was 526-18-5538.4 Olive Estelle "Stella" West was buried at Calvary Memorial Park, Douglas, Cochise Co., Arizona.3 She was born on September 24, 1920 at Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona.2,4 As of August 1, 1940,her married name was Boyer.2 She married Alfred Paul Boyer, son of Napoléon "Nap" Boyer and Charlotte Frances McMurren, on August 1, 1940.1,2 Olive Estelle "Stella" West died on May 10, 2004 at Sierra Vista, Cochise Co., Arizona, at age 83.2,4 She Sept. 24, 1920 - May 10, 2004. Stella O. Boyer passed away at Hacienda Rehabilitation and Care Center in Sierra Vista, Ariz., with family at her side. She was born in Bisbee, Ariz., to Lee and Laura West and raised on a ranch on Davis Road with her sisters, Thelma (Higgins/O'Connell), Opal (Comolli), and brother, Sonny West. Stella attended grammar school at Frontier, Ariz., and married Alfred Paul Boyer of Douglas, Ariz., on Aug. 1, 1940. They lived in Douglas until 1961, when they moved to Cottonwood, Ariz., to be closer to Alfred's Uncle Jack and Jessie Boyer. After her husband Alfred died, Stella moved to Sierra Vista in 1965 and worked for Horizon Moving and Storage for many years. Stella was a trained arson investigator in the Huachuca City area and was instrumental in starting the Whetstone Fire Department. She also was the driving force in establishing the electoral voting board in Whetstone to provide local voters an option other than Tombstone. Stella retired and moved to Tucson and resided there until her move back to Sierra Vista in 2002 to be with her remaining family. She is survived by her niece, Cathy Rockwell (Dave); great-niece, Dela DeSplinter (Damon); great-nephew, Clayton Lasher, all of Sierra Vista; nephew, Art Comolli (Carol) of Tucson; and brother-in-law, Walter Boyer of Bisbee. Stella and Alfred loved to fish and although they had no children of their own, they would often take other family members on their many outings and fishing trips. She loved to cook and sew and also created many beautiful ceramic pieces. While the staff at Hacienda was always wonderful in their care for Stella, her "angel" Marilyn, whom Stella called "mom," was always there and was very special to both Stella and her family. A memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2053 E. Choctaw, in Sierra Vista, on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Virginia Carr-Studer presiding. Arrangements have been entrusted to Jensen's Sierra Vista Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations in Stella's name for the Faith Presbyterian Church Nursing Home Ministry. on May 26, 2004.2
