She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers, Kenneth Smith and Arnold " Dean" Smith; sister, Loraine Andrews DeWeese; two nieces, Lori Mae Andrews and Marsha Lynn Ingalsbe; and nephew, Eric Savage. Arlene graduated from Alvin High School in 1940. She worked for several years at G. E. in Danville, until retiring in 1986. She had attended Sterling Christian Church and was a member of the Lake Holiday Hideaway Auxiliary. Arlene enjoyed reading, cooking, dogs, gardening and spending time with her family. A celebration of the life of Arlene Rice Morgan will begin at 10 a. m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 p. m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Danville Humane Society or to the donor's choice. on February 9, 2011.3

He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends at the Bismarck Coffee Shop. Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia, and three daughters, Gayle (Tom) Silkwood of Chiangmai, Thailand, Reta (Tim) Feezor of Bismarck and Pam (Jim) Landis of Danville. Robert was one of eight children: Imogene Smith (deceased), Louise (Bob) Overpeck of West Lebanon, Ind., Virginia (Boyd) Crone of Tab, Ind., Marie (Dick) Goodrick (deceased), Lowell (Betty) Smith of Bismarck, Donald (Joyce) Smith of Alvin and Joyce (Jim) Marble of Robinson, Ill. He had nine grandchildren; one preceded him in death. He had two step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren. Another great-grandchild is due in January. A celebration of the life of Robert Smith will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Pape Mortuary with Sam Eddy officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery. He was born May 21, 1931, at home, the son of Lee R. and Lola Belle (Claypool) Smith. Lowell married Betty Lou Conner on May 6, 1951, in the parsonage of Farmers Chapel Church in Danville. Lowell is survived by Betty, his wife of 66 years; five children, Cathy Steinbaugh of Danville, Lloyd (Debbie) Smith of Hoopeston, Cheryl (Bruce) Brumett of Bismarck, Cindy (Neil) Ingram of Alvin and Les (Angelica) Smith of Coppell, Texas. Fourteen grandchildren, Cathy's kids: Andy Steinbaugh, Joanna (Brad) Howard, Jenny (Rick) Huffman and Mike (Jen) Steinbaugh, Lloyd's kids: Luke (Katie) Smith and Molly (Terry) Goodwin, Cheryl's kids: Bill (April) Brumett, Brian (Katie) Brumett, Ben Brumett, Charlotte Brumett and Christina Brumett, Cindy's son: Chris (Adriane) Ingram, and Les's kids: Lance Smith and Ellie Smith. Thirteen great-grandchildren, Morgen, Madisyn, Lucy, Teagyn, McKenna, Lawson, Rudd, Riker, Adlei, Layla, William, Noah and Austin. Two sisters, Louise Overpeck and Joyce (Jim) Marble; one brother, Donald (Joyce) Smith; and in-laws, Boyd Crone and Pat Smith. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Don and Louise Conner; sisters, Marie Goodrick, Virginia Crone and Imogene Smith; and brother, Robert Smith. Lowell and Betty spent their married life together in the Bismarck area and attended Farmers Chapel Church. Lowell farmed, worked construction, was employed by Hyster Co. (where he was known for jumping in and out of 55 gallon drums), Quaker Oats and Big R, and managed several grain elevators in the area. He had a very outgoing personality and was a practical joker. He was involved in the Bismarck Community in his younger days including the Bismarck Community Fair, Talent Show, and Sale. He and Betty were youth group sponsors at Farmers Chapel for many years; when their children were teens, they hosted a multitude of kids at their home, known as "The Last Resort." He was Jr Achievement Advisor of the Year in 1974 and he was an honorary Chapter Farmer of the Bismarck FFA. As well as a former 4-H leader, he helped generations of kids complete 4-H projects at crunch time. "The Old Man" was "never wrong" and dearly loved his grandkids and his great-grandkids even more. Private family graveside to follow at Walnut Corner Cemetery. on April 7, 2018.4 He died on April 7, 2018 at Bismarck, Vermilion Co., Illinois, at age 86.4

On July 20, 1947, she married John Oliver Astell near Bismarck. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1997. She lived in Bismarck until 1947 when she moved to West Lebanon. Mary Ann worked at Newport Ammo, Webster Hessket, and over 30 years in county government, serving as Warren County auditor for two terms beginning in 1964. She was a member of West Lebanon Christian Church. She enjoyed collecting ceramic elephants. She loved traveling, crocheting, knitting and was very active in politics. Surviving are two sons, Philip W. Astell and Michael W. Astell (wife, Anne), both of West Lebanon, Ind; two brothers, Herbert D. Smith (wife, Mary Jane) and John R. Smith (wife, Merideth), both of Bismarck; sisters-in-law, Hyla Smith of Danville and Carolyn Hickman of Covington, Ind; brothers-in-law, Claire Astell (wife, Mildred) of Catlin and Richard Astell (wife, Cherie) of West Lebanon, Ind; six grandchildren, April Bradshaw (Dallas), Brandy Holt (Kyle), Parker Roan, Erin Zollner (Nick), John Astell and Bryon Astell; 14 great-grandchildren, Taylor Astell, Jordyn Zollner, Bryce Zollner, Bridgett Zollner, Trenton Zollner, Alyssa Zollner, Jenna Zollner, Scout Holt, Nash Holt, Anderson Bradshaw, Koy Bradshaw, Roan Holt, Nolan Bradhsaw and Tatum Bradshaw. Mary Ann was preceded in death by twin sons at infancy; and two brothers, Howard Smith and Larry Smith. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, March 12, at West Lebanon Christian Church. Services will be there at 11 a.m. EDT Thursday, March 13, with visitation one hour prior to the service, with minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lebanon Christian Church. on March 11, 2014.3
