A number of grandchildren survive among them Seaman Earl King, son of Wallace King, county treasurer. on December 9, 1944.4

Meador, Georgetown, SC; grandchildren, Charles Philip Meador, Edward Wallace Meador, and Sarah Payne Meador, Georgetown, SC, Jason Wayne Hale and fiance Michele Dearing, Salem, VA, Judson Wayne Hale and wife Crystal A. Hale, Callaway, VA; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Williams Peters, and Dolores Sylvia Peters. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Presbyterian Church of Floyd with the Reverend David Taylor and Pastor Olander English officiating. Interment will follow in the Peters Family Cemetery. She was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Floyd, and an active member of the following organizations: Daughters of the American Revolution, Floyd County Historical Society, Stonewall Garden Club, American Association of Retired Persons, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and was an avid supporter of the Floyd County High School Girls Basketball team. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Benford Leeson Peters; two brothers, Earl Wallace King and Edward Lane Wimmer; and many dear brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Hale, of Roanoke, and Leesa and Philip Meador, of Georgetown, S.C; five grandchildren, Jason Hale and wife, Michele, of Callaway, Judson Hale and wife, Crystal, of Wirtz, and Charles, Edward, and Sarah Meador, of Georgetown, S.C; stepmother, Kate E. King, of Floyd; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey and George Brown, of West Valley City, Utah, Gwinn and Sam Angle, of Radford, and Sarah and Donnie Quesenberry, of Willis; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Sid and Margaret Wimmer, of Olympia, Wash., Richard and Linda Wimmer, of Floyd, and John and Sandy King, of Marietta, Ga; three sisters-in-law, Mary A. Clark, of Copper Hill, Virginia W. Peters, of Roanoke, and Frances W. McCoy, of McCoy; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins; and four special "adopted" children, John and Cheryl Vest, of Floyd, and Johnny and Billie Lester, of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at The Presbyterian Church of Floyd, with the Rev. David Taylor and Pastor Olander English officiating. Burial will follow in the Peters Family Cemetery. Ben faithfully served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy, receiving many honors for his service. Ben is preceded in death by his father, Lindbergh Waldron; his grandparents, Harry and Mabel King; and William Coles and Virgie Waldron. He is survived by his mother, Lois Waldron; his daughters, Amber, Autumn, Ashley, Arron and Avalon; his brother, Harry (Carole); his sister, Lois "Inky" Martin (Steve); his nephews, Kevin Waldron, Lane and Trent Martin; and his niece, Sarah Waldron. A Celebration of Ben's Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren. Visitation will follow the service. Ben will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Roanoke Rescue Mission or Disabled American Veterans. on April 5, 2013.2
