Diana Maria Gibson After 59 years of marching to her own drummer, Diana Maria Gibson departed this life after a tragic accident Saturday, Sept 4, 2004. An accomplished artist, Diana was born in Miami, Fla., and grew up in Hampton, Va. As a young military wife, she traveled around the United States, raising her family. She finally returned with her family to settle in Hampton Roads and had recently happily created her "paradise at home" in Surry, Va. She attended St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Phoebus and graduated with honors from Hampton High School where her painted crab mascot is today still proudly displayed on the gymnasium wall. A beautiful person inside and out, Diana won the title of Miss Hampton Roads and the Miss Virginia Pageant's "Miss Congeniality" in 1963. Diana had the unique capability to excel in anything she chose. A multi-talented person, Diana was a painter, dancer, designer, realtor, animal breeder/groomer, and a truly individual person.
