He served in the United States Navy in World War II, and was a U.S. Army Sergeant in the Korean Conflict. He was a quiet man that loved being with his family. He retired from teaching auto mechanics with the Montgomery County Schools. He was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church. Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Cave Spring United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ronnie Morris and the Rev. Arthur Wingfield will officiate. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va., with Pastor Lynn Riddle officiating.
