She was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 2003, She managed a apartment complex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Edith did various jobs in her lifetime she worked construction plus being a homemaker. Edith had been affilated with the Glenmary Home Missioners here in Lewis County since 1989 where she had over 11,000 first time visitors from the farm. Edith was preceded in death beside her parents were her husband Lloyd E. Smith in December of 1982 a friend and companion Arthur G. Lewis in 1993, 5-brothers, and a grandson Michael Shelley. Surviving Edith are two daughters- Eda Marie (Pat) Gebell of Tucson, Arizona and Mary Ellen (Oscar) Shelley of Cincinnati, Ohio. 4-grandchildren, Tina Clary, Carole Walters, Laura Forste, and Tony Shelley. 7-great grandchildren, and 6-great-great-grandchildren who will also mourn her passing.
