     Stella Marie Whittaker Stella Whittaker Potter, 91, of Norfolk, VA, passed away May 11, 2019. Born in Giles County, Virginia, she was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed crafts, and was very artistic. She also enjoyed traveling, car races, fishing, and playing games. Stella was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Lyndon “Red” Potter; parents, George and Maude Whittaker; brothers, Jack, Sid, and Paul Whittaker; and sisters, Mary Johnson, Dorothy Poff, and Helen Cawley. Left to cherish her memory: her daughter, Brenda Hoffman and her husband, Steven; and her grandchildren, Chris and Alissa Hoffman. Stella was affectionately known as an “obsessively” loving grandmother and mother.3 She was born on June 27, 1927 at Giles Co., Virginia.1,2 As of October 22, 1948,her married name was Solly.1 She married Howard Hope Solly, son of Harrison Solly and Thelma Gertrude Blankenship, on October 22, 1948 at Pulaski Co., Virginia.1 Stella Marie Whittaker and Howard Hope Solly were divorced on September 8, 1960 at Norfolk, Virginia.4 Stella Marie Whittaker died on May 11, 2019 at Norfolk, Virginia, at age 91.3

     Patricia Lea Brown Spartanburg, SC – Patricia Brown Rankin, 45, died Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Patty was born on August 28, 1970 to Nancy Galloway Wall and the late James Clinton Brown, Jr. Patty grew up in Norfolk, VA and attended Norfolk Christian Schools. She graduated from NCS and went on to fulfill her passion for gymnastics. Patty became an award-winning coach, teaching on an elite level. She continued her life of many battles with ultimate victory in Christ. In addition to her mother, Nancy Wall and her husband Bob of Roebuck, Patty is survived by her brother Michael L. Brown of St. Augustine, FL, his wife Laura and her most outstanding niece and possible future gymnast, Madeline Grace. Her step-sister Debbie Brown of Hellam, PA and her step-brother Jimmy Brown of Lancaster, PA.2 She was born on August 28, 1970 at Norfolk, Virginia.1,2,3 As of November 27, 1993,her married name was Rankin.1 She married David Scott Rankin, son of Walter Herbert Rankin and Sally Ann Blankenship, on November 27, 1993 at Portsmouth, Virginia.1 Patricia Lea Brown and David Scott Rankin were divorced on May 24, 2000 at Norfolk, Virginia.4 Patricia Lea Brown died on October 20, 2015 at Spartanburg, Spartanburg Co., South Carolina, at age 45.2
