Crider, of the residence; one son, Henry G. Crider and his wife, Tonya, of Danville; one sister, Phyllis E. East and her husband, Paul of Chatham; two grandchildren, Hannah Crider and Forrest Crider; one great-grandchild, Brayden A. Crider; and a spoiled little Schnauzer, Little Rudy. He was predeceased by three sisters and three brothers, Virgil Dean Crider, Rachel C. Saunders, and Onyx G. Crider, Virginia C. Forney, J. Haywood Crider, and Myrtle Crider. Tommy was predeceased by his father, Barry Thomas Owen, and by two uncles, Larry Owen and Steve Owen of Danville. He was the much loved grandson of the late Luther and Charlotte Powell of Danville, Virginia. Tommy is survived by two sisters, Melisa B. Lyles and husband Graham, and Joni B. Fallaw and husband Matt. A brother, Randy Owen, of Danville, as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends also survive him. Tommy was loved by many and known for his kindness to and compassion for others. Motley, 88, of Madison Heights, Virginia, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, peacefully with his family by his side. He was the husband of Marlene Owen Motley of sixty-five years. Born January 29, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Victor Douglas and Irene Pickral Motley. He was a retired aviation mechanic from the Naval Air Re-work Facility in Norfolk, Virginia. He honorably served in the Army during the post WW-II occupation in Japan as a rifleman and military police officer. He served in the Twelfth Calvary Regiment. Upon his discharge, he received the Army-Japanese Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He later retired to the Elon area of Madison Heights (Amherst, Virginia). He was a member of Elon Baptist Church and enjoyed his men's Sunday School Class discussions. His final wishes were expressed during his last days and hoped his family would always remain faithful and true to the Lord Jesus Christ. In addition to his wife, Marlene, he is survived by two daughters, Sallie Ingram and her husband, Bob Wade, Abby Thompson and her husband, Jim; a son, Dudley Motley; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elise Allen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Karcher; and two brothers, Victor and Vernon Motley.
