His family then settled in Onancock in 1977. He began on the Shore as the Lead Distribution Supervisor at Perdue for 10 years, but he is best known for his superior guidance of thousands of students from six Eastern Shore schools and for his community involvement. His teaching and musical ability earned him an esteemed guest invitation to conduct the All-Shore band. An active church and community servant, he was the past board president of the Eastern Shore branch of the American Heart Association, past president of the Accomack County Kiwanis club, past member of the Onancock volunteer fire department, former member of the Moose Lodge and Madrigals, a former member of the Eastern Shore Yacht and County Club, Eastern Shore Rural Health volunteer, Accomack Community band trumpet player, and a faithful United Methodist Men and choir member at Market Street United Methodist church.
