Gerlene McCaleb Humphreys, 89, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Muriel McCaleb; her sister, Emogene M. Bradford (Paul); and sister-in-law, Martha M. McCaleb. She is survived by her brother, Leon McCaleb, and her three children, Danny (Martha) Humphreys, Gale (Andy) Stevens, and Sheila (Jack) Dorton. She also leaves her grandchildren, Parker, Tia (Barri), Nicole, and Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She retired from General Electric as a technical writer after many years of service. She filled her retirement years enjoying her family, cooking, reading books, and baseball. In keeping with her wishes, a Graveside Service will be conducted at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.3 She was born on August 28, 1932 at Paint Bank, Craig Co., Virginia; Her obituary has a birth date of Aug 27, 1932.1,2,3 As of May 6, 1950,her married name was Humphreys.1 She married Hunter Thornton Humphreys, son of Paul Venson Humphreys and Maude Ozenia Lugar, on May 6, 1950 at New Castle, Craig Co., Virginia.1 Gerlene Ruth McCaleb died on October 15, 2021 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 89.3
