Lynda was a graduate of Madison College (now James Madison University), when she was selected to Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges and she received her Masters degree in Education at the University of Virginia. She taught school at Chuckatuck, Virginia, Gretna, Arlington and Altavista. She was very active in area golf, playing out of Oakwood Country Club. She was a member of the Virginia State Golf Association and Westminster Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her daughter, Susan S. Miles and her husband, Scott, of Richmond; one sisters, Charlotte Weathers of Roanoke Rapids, N.C; one granddaughter, Monica Miles of Richmond and a special niece, Carolyn Coleman of Lynchburg. Interment will follow in Presbyterian Cemetery. on December 30, 2012.2

He attended all public schools through Lamar Junior College in Beaumont. He was attending the University of Texas when his peace-time draft notice arrived at his home in Beaumont. He was ordered to report to the Army on Sept. 29, 1941. His first assignment sent him to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He was transferred from there to Fort Sill, Okla., The Artillery Training Post. After finishing basic training he attended Officers Training School where he received a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army. He was transferred to Camp Gruber, Okla., where the 88th Division was being formed. There he was assigned to the position of executive officer (second in command) of "A" Battery, 339th Field Artillery Battalion, 88th Infantry Division. He remained with "A" Battery and was later promoted to captain. He participated in four major campaigns. Those were Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, North Apennines and the Po Valley. He was awarded a citation and Bronze Star for serving in each campaign as well as an additional citation and Bronze Star for action on the battlefield on more than one occasion. A total of five (5) Bronze Stars. The 88th Division became known as the "Fighting Blue Devils" and as "Shock Troops." The Germans were always required to know where the 88th was located because they knew that was where the action would come from. After the war, Irley returned to the University of Texas and received his law degree. He practiced law in Houston for a number of years. After that he worked with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation as vice president and manager of the Legal Department for more than 20 years. During this time the office was in Fort Worth, but later moved to Houston. He retired in 1985 and he and his wife Hazel moved to Tyler. Mr. Bonnette was preceded in death by his wife Hazel; his parents, David and Polly Bonnette; his four sisters, Nin Burnett, Ural Smith, Nedra Terrell and Lillian Sledge; his four brothers, Elbrey, Shelby, Aubrey and Ted Bonnette. Survivors include his daughters, Bonnie Dodson and husband Doug of Andrews and Gail Henderson of Amarillo; son, Gary Bonnette and wife Cindy of Bastrop; stepdaughters, Shiela Bellinger of Dallas and Susan Hunter and husband Jim of Plano; grandchildren, Kristi Dodson, Kellie Dodson and Aaron Bonnette; and stepgrandchildren, Lindsay Ryan and Travis Bellinger. on August 1, 2010.3
