She was born October 23, 1915 to Bard and Margaret Fitzgerald in Gretna Va. She graduated from Radford College in 1938 and married Guy H. Yeatts in 1943. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy H. Yeatts, Sr; one grandson, Rusty Yeatts; one brother, Ed Fitzgerald; and one sister, Margaret Mann. Eliza taught in the Pittsylvania School system and retired as a librarian at Chatham Elementary School in 1970. She was a long time member of Liberty Christian Church. She took great pleasure in doing for others. Eliza knitted hundreds of hats which were then given to those in need. She was a member of the Gretna Chapter No. 118 Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of the Pittsylvania County Education Association, Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association. She is survived by her sons Bobby Yeatts and his wife Libby Reynolds Yeatts, Guy Howard Yeatts, Jr., her daughter Carol and her husband, Jerry Radcliffe. She is survived by 5 grandchildren, Andy Radcliffe and wife, Jennifer, Alison Sharp and husband, Jon, Stacey Haskins and husband, Jeff, Jason Yeatts and Matthew Yeatts and wife, Dana and 8 great grandchildren. The family is grateful to Tammy Dowdy who provided care, love and companionship for many years.      DeWitt Fletcher Burgess DeWitt Fletcher Burgess of Dry Fork passed away on Friday, September 30. He was 97. He was born in Washington, D.C. On March 29, 1925 to DeWitt Talmadge Burgess and Geneva Fletcher Burgess. DeWitt entered into WWII at age 17, in the Army. He was in New Guinea, and the Philippines. Also served as occupation troops in Tokyo. He began driving a streetcar at age 21 for D.C. transit. He began driving buses in 1962 for what became Metro until 1984. DeWitt is survived by his daughter Karen Cosner, and husband Mike. He has one grandson Brian Cosner, and wife Sarah, and great grandchildren, Jacob Andrew, Katie Joy, and Ellie Hope. He is also survived by a niece Cheryl Shepherd of Warrenton. Also one cousin who was like a brother, Hugh Robinson, of Kentucky, and cousin Vicky Childress of Culpepper. He also had nieces and nephews by marriage that he loved. He was a member of Mill Creek Community Church since moving here in 2016. He loved playing golf, and followed Washington DC Sports from a young age. DeWitt had many friends that loved him. He and my mom Mildred Yeatts Burgess were married almost 60 years and deeply loved each other until her death in 2012. DeWitt was very thoughtful, also very giving. Active at his former church in Arlington for about 65 years. She was born on July 13, 1945, to Nancy Moschler Motley and the late James Lee Hamner Sr. in Victoria, Virginia. Ann was a member of Shermont Baptist Church. She graduated Phillips Business College with a Secretarial Degree and worked as a secretary at Dr Grekos' dental office. In addition to her mother, Ann is survived by her husband, Donnie Doss; her daughter, Deborah Seward (Mark); her stepdaughter, Deidre Elliott (Richard); her grandchildren, Hunter Seward (Maranda) and Kaitlynn Seward; and her great grandchild, Kaynaan Seward, all of whom were her pride and joy who she loved with all of her heart. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Hamner and Sheila Motley; her niece, Elizabeth Motley; her great niece, Mia, and numerous other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and cousins.
