Margie Ann Sheppe Margie Ann Sheppe Yeatts, 101, died Thursday, July 26, 2012 while a patient in Roman Eagle Memorial Home. Born September 30, 1910 in Rockingham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Irving Sheppe and the late Clara Lifee Sheppe. She was predeceased by husband, Charles Coleman "C. C." Yeatts. Mrs. Yeatts came to Danville in 1938 from Richmond, VA. She was the widow of C. C. Yeatts, who with his partner, founded Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home in 1935. Margie Ann was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where she served as financial secretary and administrative assistant to various pastors for eight years until her retirement in 1955. She was also a former member of the Wednesday Club and a former member of the Danville Golf Club. In addition to her husband and her parents. Margie Ann was predeceased by her sisters, Clarine Brinser and Eunice Sheppe and her half-brothers, Irving Sheppe, Thomas Sheppe and Giles Sheppe. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Highland Burial Park, Danville, with Rev. Hewes, Jr., whose wife was formerly Marguerite Yeatts of this city. Mr. Hewes, who had been married but a few years, was taken seriously ill a year ago and while there had been hope that he might recover, recently his condition had assumed a critical turn. C. C. Yeatts, brother of Mrs. Hewes left Danville immediately upon receiving the news, and will accompany the family to Philadelphia, where burial will take place. It was understood that funeral services would be held in Richmond today. At Mr. Hewes' bedside when the end came were his wife, his mother, Mrs. C. F. Hewes, Sr., and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Elnathan P. Brownell, of Asheville, N.C., formerly of Danville. on August 26, 1939.2

She was very active with the Pittsylvania County Literacy Program and continued to tutor students and adults long after her retirement from teaching. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary for 55 years. She was the mayor of Gretna from 1978 to 1980. She is survived by three sons, Dave Hunt of Davidson NC, Steve Hunt of Orlando, FL, and Jim Hunt of Gretna; one daughter, Rebecca Sparks of Shallote, NC, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park. on June 22, 2008.4

Mrs. Olson is survived by three devoted children: Carl Eric Olson, Jr., William Yeatts Olson and Nancy Olson Greenfield; five grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Hunt. on November 11, 2001.8

Mr. Olson was a graduate of Union College, Schenectady, NY, Class of 1936 and Yale Law School, Class of 1940. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. An Attorney by profession, Mr. Olson was a partner with Reid & Priest Wall Street, New York City for 34 years. He was a member of the American Bar Association, the Yale Club, the PGA Club and the First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. Mr. Olson is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Ila Yeatts Olson; three children: Carl Eric Olson, Jr., William Yeatts Olson and Nancy Olson Greenfield; five grandchildren; and one sister, Ellen Meza. on August 29, 2000.2

Mr. Shelton was born on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1939, at the family farm in Chatham, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Iris and Curtis Shelton. Mr. Shelton had a thirty six year career as an engineer with LCSA, now Loudoun Water, Loudoun County, Virginia, retiring as General Manager. Following retirement, he worked for a number of engineering firms, including a project for the restoration of Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC. Mr. Shelton was a Mason for 55 years. He was Past Master of Herndon Lodge 264 in 1971. He served as District 58 Deputy in 1978-1979, and was an honorary member of four lodges in the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition, he was a member on the Committee on Work for the Grand Lodge of Virginia. Mr. Shelton was an active member of the Scottish Rite, as well as other Masonic bodies. Each year, a ritual school, The Kenneth O. Shelton School, is held in northern Virginia in his honor. At the time of his death, he was affiliated with Unanimity Lodge 418, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife Dorothy Eleanor Fall; sister, Joan S. Bull Spurley; his only nephew, Paul Curtis Bull; brother-in-law, Terry Spurley; sister-in-law, Marsha W. Fall (Charles Meyer); his four children, Gini Nochera (Joe), Kenneth O. Shelton, Jr. (Andrea), R. Martin Shelton, and Sarah E. Barnard (John); his grandchildren, Loren Shelton, Ginna Frye, James Shelton, Jack Shelton, Callie Shelton, Haile Shelton, Bryant Barnard, and Christopher Mattingly; and several great-grandchildren. Private burial to follow at the family cemetery. on April 24, 2019.1
