     Alva Jackson "Jackie" Poff Jr. was buried at Shirley Cemetery, Universal, Vermilion Co., Indiana.^3,4,5 He was born on October 25, 1933 at Libertyville, Vigo Co., Indiana.^2,3,4 He died on October 19, 1943 at Libertyville, Vigo Co., Indiana, at age 9.^3,4 He Jackie Junior Poff, 10 year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva J. Poff, Libertyville, died at his home at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. He had been suffering from typhoid fever and other complications for past three weeks. Jackie was a third grade student in the Libertyville School. Besides the parents, he is survived by nine sisters, Mrs. Geneva Smith, Mecca, Mrs. Martha Garwood, West Terre Haute, Mrs. Mary Lansaw, Paris, Ill., and Christina, Virginia Rose, Delores, Beverly, Maxine, and Charlene Sue, all at home; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clem Poff, Clinton, route two. Burial in the Shirley Cemetery. on October 20, 1943.⁵

     Sherry Rae Smith was buried at Roselawn Memorial Park, 7500 North Clinton Road, Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Indiana.^1,3 Her married name was Sykes.¹ She married Donald Ray Sykes.¹ Sherry Rae Smith was born on March 20, 1943 at Clinton, Vermilion Co., Indiana.^1,3 She died on February 16, 2014 at Mecca, Parke Co., Indiana, at age 70.^1,3 She Sherry R. Sykes, 70, of Mecca, passed away at 11:47 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in her residence. She was born on March 20, 1943, in Clinton, to Manley Smith and Geneva Poff Smith. She had worked at Uselman Foods. She was a member of the Mecca Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jack Smith. She is survived by a son, Shawn and Amy Sykes of Terre Haute; a daughter, Stefanie Cavanaugh of Terre Haute; a brother, Don Smith of Mecca; two sisters, Janet Overpeck of Mecca and Sandra Hutson of Mecca; four grandchildren, Sierra Sykes, Shelby Sykes, Chelsea (Matt) Stout, and Allison Cavanaugh; one great-granddaughter, Harper Stout; and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. on February 17, 2014.¹
