Virginia (Ginny) Hawkins, 91, of Roanoke, Va., died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She was born on December 15, 1925, daughter of the late Edward D. and Annie Overstreet Hawkins. Ginny was preceded in death by her siblings, Clarice Alls, Viola Smelser, Jesse Hawkins, Lewis Hawkins, Pete Hawkins, Pearl St.Clair, Robert Hawkins, Willie Creasy, Carlton Hawkins, Gertrude Bush and Mabel Jones. She was a long-time member of Unity of Roanoke Valley and attended Vinton Wesleyan Church for a number of years. Ginny retired from Shenandoah Life Insurance Company after 25 years of service. She is survived by her stepson and his wife, John C. and Wanda T. Hinton of Boones Mill; grandson, Christopher C. Hinton of Atlanta, Ga; and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. on February 12, 2017.2
