     Jimmie Lee Hamons Sr. Mr. Jimmie Lee Hamons, Sr., 51, of 1202 Second Street in Eden passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Boone-Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Hamons was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 12, 1958, a son of Guy Edley and Norma Long Hamons. He was formerly a warehouse shipping manager. He was a member of Stoneville Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served in the men's ministry and sang in the choir. He is survived by his wife, Teena Hamons of the home; his sons, Jimmie Lee "J.L." Hamons, Jr. and Adam Wayne Hamons, both of Eden; his parents, Guy and Norma Hamons of Peterstown, West Virginia; his sisters, Linda Grice and husband Ken of Baltimore, Maryland, Diana Smith and husband Burl of Peterstown, West Virginia, and Brenda Sue Allen of Kansas; his brother, Mickey Hamons and wife Jenelle of Eden; and several nieces and nephews.1 He was buried at Evergreen Memory Gardens, 7901 US 158, Reidsville, Rockingham Co., North Carolina.1,2 He married Teena Marie Unknown.1 Jimmie Lee Hamons Sr. was born on July 12, 1958 at Baltimore, Maryland.1,2 He died on July 22, 2009 at Eden, Rockingham Co., North Carolina, at age 51.1,2

He served in the U.S. Navy from Feb. 28, 1948, to Feb. 15, 1952, serving during the Korean War. He married Linda Martin in 1954, and then Freda Meadows on Nov. 6, 1969. He worked for G.M. Dodge as a choker setter. He also learned to operate a CAT and became a top notch Catskinner. He later worked for the Graham Brothers in 1958, and later went to work for Robinson Timber until 1993, retiring at the age of 62. He enjoyed tinkering with cars, and in his younger years enjoyed racing the cars he worked on. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Candy Poulter; daughter, Bernadine Poulter; stepson and daughter-in-law, Willy and Darcey Meadows; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sheena and Bill Riley and Silicia and Max McDonald; brothers Bobby Mills, Roy Poulter, Paul Schurn, and Sam Schurn; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Freda Poulter; parents, Ernest and Ada Poulter; son, Martin Poulter; stepdaughter, Sonia Gleemaker; daughter-in-law, Trish Poulter; sister, Ruth Fox; and brothers Jack, Richard and Tommy Poulter. on January 30, 2007.3

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, at The Salvation Army Citadel Corps, 301 Mary St., Charleston. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. on September 22, 2009.4
