A native of Conway, S.C., she was the widow of Eugene Craig and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was past president of the Virginia Country Music Association where she was also the entertainment chairperson. She is survived by her son, William F. Martin of Bradenton, Fla; six grandchildren, Angela Healy of Jacksonville, Fla., Tracy Duke of Lexington, S.C., April Saunders of Virginia Beach, Gary Martin of Chesapeake, Ron Petty of Kitty Hawk, N.C., and Debby Henline of Prosperity, S.C; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, Shirley F. Petty, Jerry M. Martin, Jimmy Martin, Eddie Martin and Patsy Bender. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Braswell officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. on August 12, 2009.¹

Margaret Howell married James Ray Craig on July 4, 1947 in Princeton, West Virginia. James preceded her in death in 1984. She loved her family, reading, fishing and crocheting. Margaret is survived by her children, Marie (Jim) Simpson, Steven Craig, Jeffrey (Debra) Craig, Cathy (John) Perkins, Matthew (Teresa) Craig, Kimberly (Tony) Lock and Michael (Terri Brown) Craig; grandchildren, Melissa, James, Garrett, Erin, Jeff Jr., Karen, Michelle, Amber, Reanne, Taylor and Hope; great-grandchildren, Ethan, William and Sean; siblings, Elva Kendrat and Martin Luther Howell Jr., and special companion and fishing buddy of many years, Harold Holland. She was preceded in death by her son, James Ray Craig Jr. in 1970 and grandson, John Arthur Perkins Jr. in 2006. on July 1, 2008.²

She loves playing with her six grandchildren Aaron, Colby, Leilah, S.J, and Jessie Schilling and Emalynn Collins. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and teammates. on January 31, 2021.¹
