Linderman, of Bovill, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at his home. He was 91. The youngest of 12, Ruthford was born April 30, 1921, in Troy, to John and Carrie Linderman. He grew up on a farm near Nora Creek. After the eighth grade, Ruthford began his career as a logger. When America entered into World War II, Ruthford, along with several others from Potlatch Corp., heard the call and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the 800th Engineering Company as a bulldozer operator. After the war, Ruthford returned to Bovill and, on Jan. 6, 1956, Ruthford married his wife of 57 years, Jessie May Smith in Coeur d'Alene. Ruthford continued logging until he retired in 1986. Ruthford, a self-taught accordion player, enjoyed gardening (especially tomatoes), fishing and hunting. He could really cut a rug and could often be caught tinkering with old vehicles. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Bovill Volunteer Fire Department, a great storyteller and will be remembered by all who knew him for his quick wit and sense of humor. Ruthford was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings. He is survived by his wife, Jessie, at their Bovill home his sons, Duane (Mary Ann) of Bovill, and Paul Linderman of Boise and numerous nieces and nephews. on March 5, 2013.5

Calene, daughter of Willis Dale Calene and Leota Claire Smith, on September 6, 1969 at Troy, Latah Co., Idaho.1,2 John Dee "Jay" Bieren died on October 18, 2015 at Spokane, Spokane Co., Washington, at age 70.2,4 He John D. Bieren, better known to his friends and family as Jay, a lifelong Moscow resident, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. He had just turned 70. Jay was born Oct. 14, 1945, in Moscow, to Leo H. and Eleanor Broemeling Bieren. He grew up and attended St. Mary's Catholic School, where he also served as an altar boy, and graduated from Moscow High School in 1963. Jay went to work at Sanitary Meat Cutters in Moscow, where he learned the meat-cutting trade. He then went to work in the meat department at Rosauers and at a young age became the meat manager of the Pullman Rosauers store. He remained in that position until November 1970. In 1970, he and his brother, Keith, purchased Trammel Beer and Wine Distributorship, renaming it Bieren Distributors. They owned and operated it until December 1995, selling the business to Odom Corp. of Seattle. Jay later went to work at the Moscow Post Office until 2007, retiring on his 62nd birthday. Jay served in the Idaho National Guard for 12 years, and was a member of the Junior Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus. In his later years, he enjoyed working around the house, in his yard and boating, but nothing came before his dedication to his family. He and his family had just returned from a trip to Disneyland a few days before his death. He and Janice Calene were married Sept. 6, 1969, in Troy. She survives at their Moscow home. Also surviving are his children, Jacque and Tom Gerdes of Junction City, Ore., Lisa and Erik Geidl of Moscow, and Chad and Sarah Bieren of Bellevue, Wash. He also leaves his grandchildren, Zach, Mikayla, Brandon and Estifanos Gerdes, Brendan and Madison Geidl, and John and Michael Bieren; along with a brother, Keith (Marlene) Bieren of Lewiston. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jerry in 2006 and Dean in 2014; and his sister-in-law, Jan, in the same year. A private service will be held and burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery. on October 19, 2015.2
