She was born Aug. 11, 1927 in Knox, IN to James P. and Gertrude M. (Gilsinger) Falvey. She married Robert Cleaveland Jr. on June 30, 1950 in Knox. He preceded in her death on March 21, 1994. Surviving are 6 children: Bob (Pam) Cleaveland of Naples, FL, Peggy (Dennis) Houchens of Zionsville, Sue (Rich) Borowy of Glenside, PA, Ed (Christi) Cleaveland of Ballwin, MO, Mary (Bill) Kuhn of Holly Springs, NC, and Amy (Eric) Powers of Middlebury; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan Carlson and Jan Childs; and a brother, Tom Falvey. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Joyce graduated from Indiana University with her bachelor's degree and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She retired as a school teacher. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bristol and the Rosary Society. She was a Docent for the Midwest Museum of American Art and was involved in many Bridge clubs. She was an avid quilter, gardener, and feeder of hummingbirds. She also was a big fan of IU basketball. Visitation for Joyce will be from 4-7 pm Friday, Aug. 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bristol, IN where the Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Visitation will also be an hour prior to the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the church. Fr. Bob VanKempen will officiate. Private burial will be held at a later date in the Hopewell Cemetery, Lagro, Indiana. on August 23, 2018.2
