     James Donald "J.D." Peters A funeral for James Donald "J.D." Peters, 75, of 3305 Philpott Drive, Bassett, who died Jan. 12, 2010, at his home, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Pastors John Shelley and Jimmy Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home on Philpott Drive. Peters was born March 17, 1934, in Franklin County to James McKinley Peters and Bessie Smith Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Hall Peters in 2004; a daughter, Sharon "Suzi" Huff; two brothers, Herman and Melvin Peters; and seven sisters, Violet Dillon, Tinnie Turner, Noreta Hodges, and Nora, Ora, Bessie and Lessie Peters. He retired from the Bassett Chair Co. with 30 years of service. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Sanders of Reidsville, N.C; a brother, Larry Peters of Bassett; three sisters, Lena Brown of Wirtz, and Linda Whorley and Betty Sue Meade, both of Ferrum.² He was buried at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia.² He was born on March 17, 1934 at Franklin Co., Virginia.^5,2 He married Irene Hall circa 1951.^2,6 James Donald "J.D." Peters, son of James McKinley "Jim" Peters and Bessie Nannie Smith, circa 1951.^1,2 Irene Hall died on October 17, 2004 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 77.^4,2 She Irene Hall Peters, 77, of 3305 Philpott Drive, Bassett, died Oct. 17, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Martinsville. She was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Patrick County, to Della Sigmon Hall and Sam Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Hall, Elbert Hall, Ed Hall and Lynn Hall; and a sister, Laura Rakes. She retired from the Bassett Chair plant of Bassett Furniture Industries with 38 years of service and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, James D. Peters of the home; a sister, Louetta Lilly of Bassett; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayne Fulcher and Jimmy Carroll officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. today, and other times at the home on Philpott Drive, Bassett. on October 18, 2004.²

     Lisa Diane Hodges was buried at Maple Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, 260 Henry Road, Ferrum, Franklin Co., Virginia.² She Lisa Diane Hodges Shively, November 19, 1964 — July 1, 2022. Lisa Diane Hodges Shively age 57 of Ferrum passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022. Lisa was a kind person who dedicated her life in helping others. She served a combined 17 years in the Ferrum Fire and Rescue, nine years with the fire department and eight years with the rescue squad. She was preceded in death by her mother, Noreta Peters Hodges; brother, Mitchell Hodges; and sister, Janet Adkins (Lisa was the caregiver for each one); father-in-law, Bobby Shively. She will always be loved and missed by everyone. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Darryl L. Shively; special daughter, Tabitha Keith (Jeff); father, Tom Hodges (Lois); brothers, Tony Hodges (Barbara), Ricky Hodges; special aunts and uncle, Linda Whorley, Betty Meade and Larry Peters. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Marie Shively; sisters-in-law, Angela Campbell (Chad), and Velvet Meeks (Jerry); a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. The family would like to say a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care shown and given.      Robert Mitchell Hodges Robert Mitchell Hodges, 61, of Ferrum, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Franklin County Health and Rehab. He was born on July 29, 1958 in Rocky Mount to Tom Henry Hodges and the late Noreta Shelby Peters. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Adkins. He had worked as a furniture fabricator at Bassett Furniture Industries. In addition to his father, Robert is survived by his stepmother, Lois Hodges; son, Mitch Hodges; sister, Lisa Shively; brothers, Tony and Ricky Hodges; and granddaughter, Brylyn Hodges.⁴ He was born on June 29, 1958 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.^1,2,3,4 He married Carolyn Patricia Craig on February 24, 1979 at Patrick Co., Virginia.¹ Robert Mitchell Hodges and Carolyn Patricia Craig were divorced on December 5, 1983 at Henry Co., Virginia.³ Robert Mitchell Hodges married Mary Ann Hagee on December 22, 1984 at Martinsville, Virginia.¹ Robert Mitchell Hodges and Mary Ann Hagee were divorced on February 1, 1990 at Henry Co., Virginia.³ Robert Mitchell Hodges died on September 27, 2019 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 61.⁴

She was born on November 3, 1965 in Martinsville, VA to Helen Margaret Rakes Hagee Epperson of Martinsville, VA and the late Ralph Clifford Hagee, Sr. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sophia Hagee and a brother, Ralph Clifford Hagee, Jr. Ms. Hodges was of the Christian faith. Janet Lynn Adkins, 55, of Chestnut Knob Road Ridgeway, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. She was born August 13, 1961 in Martinsville to the late Noreta Peters Hodges and Tom Hodges. She had been a supervisor at Hooker Furniture. Janet was a member of the Intercontient Church of God and had devoted her life to helping autistic children.
