Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. on February 21, 2010.3

Mr. Fridley was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Clifton Forge, Va., and received a degree in drafting from Columbia Tech. He worked for the Post Office as a postal carrier in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1980. He served in the 77th Infantry in the Army during World War II and participated in the invasion of Guam and two invasions in the Philippines, Ie Shima and Okinawa. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion in Greenbelt and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed camping, traveling and listening to music. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Mary Frances Fridley; and one brother, Rodney Fridley. Survivors include one son, Dr. Arthur C. Fridley of Shady Side; one daughter, Donna Lee Lilly of Glen Dale; two brothers, Donald and Thomas Fridley, both of Millboro, Va; one sister, Marjorie Taylor of Charlottesville, Va; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. on July 17, 2008.3

Dr. Fridley was also a 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in West River. He enjoyed college football and volunteering for Mission of Mercy in Maryland. Dr. Fridley is survived by his wife, Valerie J. Fridley, whom he married in 1981; daughter, Stacey Rainbolt of Richmond, VA; and sister, Donna Lilly of Newport News,VA. on May 10, 2013.2
