Sam was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Anderson, Ind., to the late George and Mary (Riggsby) Jarrett. He served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict, and retired after 26 years of active and reserve service. He was a district manager for Sumter Electric Company for 15 years. Sam joined the Rotary Club of Inverness in 1974 and remained a member for more than 20 years, serving as president during the 1991-92 Rotary year. He received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award in March 1992. He also was a member of the First Christian Church of Inverness. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna (Sorrells) Jarrett, Fritch, Texas; two sons, Jonathan L. Jarrett, Fritch, Texas, and Timothy L. Jarrett and wife, Laurie, Inverness; one grandson, Jonathan S. Jarrett and his wife, Kathie; and one great-grandchild, Kimber Mae Jarrett. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Ina Mae Jarrett, in 2003. Sam's life will be honored at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at First Christian Church of Inverness. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service. on October 21, 2012.2

Hugh James "Jim" Finnegan, 79, passed away Thursday. Jim was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church. He served aboard the LST 34 for 3 years during World War II. He retired from federal civil service with 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and one nephew, all of Delaware. He is survived by his wife, Lynn; two sons, Pat (Jan) of LaGrange, Ga. and Mike (Linda) of Meridianville; four grandsons, Joey, Brian, Shawn and Colby; granddaughter, Kelley Lynn and two good golf buddies, Wade and Jerry, who made retirement a joy. on August 14, 2003.5 He died on August 14, 2003 at Alabama at age 79.5
