He was a devoted family member and compassionate philanthropist to many causes. Mr. Hargrave was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Scott; sister, Iola Hunt of Mathews and two brothers, Enos Hargrave of Newport News and Bert Hargrave Sr. of Williamsburg. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Mae Meadows of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Lucenia Hargrave and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Joe Hunt. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. on August 29, 2003.2
