Flynt died on December 30, 2014 at Huntsville, Madison Co., Alabama, at age 79.2,3 She Shirley A. Flynt Gray, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday (Dec. 30, 2014) in Huntsville Hospital. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Dillard Y. and Leah Ellis Flynt, was a homemaker and a member of the Wells Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Joe Gray of Fayetteville; daughter, Sonya Crabtree of Fayetteville; son, Michael (Kim) Gray of Fayetteville; daughter, Bridget (John) Cash of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Lauren Crabtree (Eddie McDaniel) Mitchell, Lindsey Crabtree (Jason) Morgan, Cara Crabtree (Jeffrey) Groce, Heather Gray, Hannah Gray, Holly Gray, Haley Cash and Hayden Cash; nine great-grandchildren; brother, William E. Flynt of Fayetteville; three sisters, Joyce Farmer, Doris Harwell and Peggy McAlister, all of Fayetteville. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Richard McWilliams officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. on January 7, 2015.2

Hargrave, 91, passed away at The Chesapeake on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003. Born to John and Martha Hargrave of Waverly, Va., he had been a Peninsula resident for 75 years. Mr. Hargrave was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, Hampton, and the American Legion Post 141. He served during World War II and later retired, after 37 years of service, from Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. He traveled extensively with this wife, Claudine, and enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He designed many beautiful gardens at his Chesapeake home. He was a devoted family member and compassionate philanthropist to many causes. Mr. Hargrave was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine Scott; sister, Iola Hunt of Mathews and two brothers, Enos Hargrave of Newport News and Bert Hargrave Sr. of Williamsburg. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Mae Meadows of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Lucenia Hargrave and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, in Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Joe Hunt. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. on August 29, 2003.2
