She was born Aug. 28, 1917, in Spencer. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston, and a former member of Sixth St., Methodist Church. She was a secretary for Union Carbide in South Charleston and was a member of Eastern Star in South Charleston. Surviving are her husband, Robert Peay; son, Jon and his wife, Sue Vineyard of Teays Valley; sister, Ruth Davis of Spencer; grandchildren and spouses, Beth and Jeff Gunter, Susan and Brian Johnson, Melisa and Zach Northup; and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service, which will be at noon Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Snodgrass Funeral Home with the Rev. Boyd C. Purcell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Contributions may be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311. on February 27, 2003.1

Jon Vineyard was buried at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane, Putnam Co., West Virginia.3 He was born on January 24, 1941 at Kanawha Co., West Virginia.5,2 He married Carolyn Sue King on August 7, 1959 at Charleston, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.2,3 Jon Vineyard died on August 21, 2012 at Hurricane, Putnam Co., West Virginia, at age 71.5,3 He Jon Vineyard, 71, of Scott Depot, passed away August 21, 2012, at Putnam Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hurricane, after a short illness. Jon was born January 24, 1941, the only child to William Howard Taft and Mary Rosalee Roberts Vineyard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jon Matthew Gunter. Jon retired from Columbia Gas Transmission after 37 years of service and he most recently was a consultant with HartPetro, Charleston. Jon was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, where he also served on the board of trustees. Jon was a proud member of the NRA, Trout Unlimited and FMC Sportsman's Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping and spending time with his family. Surviving Jon are his wife of 53 years, Carolyn Sue King Vineyard; and daughters and their children, Beth Gunter and husband, Jeff, and their daughter, Morgan, of Teays Valley, Susan Johnson and husband, Brian, and their children, Kassie and Brett, of Ravenswood and Missy Northup and husband, Zac, and their children, Alex, Sophie and Meredith, of Teays Valley. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane, with Pastor Ron McClung officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane. Friends may visit from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and one hour prior to the service Thursday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jon's name to Mount Vernon Baptist Church, c/o Sanctuary Fund, 2150 Mount Vernon Road, Hurricane, WV 25526. on August 22, 2012.3

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alan F. Gunter; and his great-grandparents, Taft and Rosalee Vineyard and Harry and Edith King. Matt was a sophomore and honor student at Winfield High School where he was also a saxophonist in the concert band. As a student at Winfield Middle School, he was a member of the football team and was first chair in the All-County Band as an 8th grader. He was a Christian, attended Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Hurricane, and loved fishing and all sport activities. Surviving are his parents, Jeff and Beth Gunter of Scott Depot; sister, Morgan Michelle Gunter at home; grandparents, Jon and Sue Vineyard of Scott Depot, Matalie Gunter and Jack Cadle of Charleston; aunts and uncles, Brian and Susan Johnson of Ravenswood, Missy and Zac Northup of Teays Valley, Judy and John Bennett of Wilmington, N.C; his girlfriend, Katie Eye of Scott Depot; seven cousins; and many close friends. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Chapman Funeral Home, 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, with the Rev. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hurricane. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. on December 12, 2003.2
