Gerald Francis Harris died on December 16, 2013 at New York at age 93.4,2 He Rochester: The Reverend Gerald F. Harris died December 16, 2013 at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eunice and his sons, Carl (Kathy) of Palmyra, Drew Scott of New York City; grandsons, Charles (Kelly), Gerald F. Harris II, and great-grandson, Jackson. Gerald served five years in the U.S. Army in World War II in the Detached Enlisted Men's List - Recruiting and Induction Service, in the Combat Engineers and with the Office of the Army and Navy Liquidation Commission in Italy. He graduated from Georgetown College Cum Laude and received a Masters degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in 1951. For thirty-six (36) years he served United Methodist Churches in Central New York and retired from University United Methodist Church, Buffalo, NY in 1985. Rev. Harris was loved by the laity of the churches he served. After retirement Gerald and Eunice traveled extensively in Great Britain, Europe, Canada and the U.S. Memorial Services at Manchester United Methodist Church, Saturday January 11, 2014. Interment will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery, Abingdon, VA. Memorials may be made to any church or organization one may desire. on December 22, 2013.2

She was a member of Wise Drive Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a nursery worker for a number of years. Mrs. Black's greatest legacy is her family, to which she devoted her life. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, R. Powell Black Sr; son, R.P. "Tim" Black Jr. and his wife, Grizelda, of Austin, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Rodney Stalheim of Lenoir, N.C., Ellen and Joe Tyner of Florence, Lee and Johnny Alford of Sumter, Kathy and Steve Matis of Charlotte; brother, Lewis Webster of Roanoke, Va; sister, Ethel Alderman of Roanoke, Va; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. on July 1, 1999.1
