She and her husband, Garland Goodwin, moved to their home in New Church after retirement in December. Mrs. Goodwin had worked for 19 years for the Baxter Health Care Corp. in Savage. The former Shirley King was a native of Roanoke, Va. In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Joanne Lapole of New Church; two sons, Jesse Goodwin and Garland Goodwin Jr., also of New Church; two sisters, Lelia Sweet and Jessie L. Surface of Salem, VA and a brother, Larry W. King of Ormond Beach, FL; daughter-in-law, Tracy King of Hanover, PA; and 2 grandsons, Austin W. King and Joshua L. King. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen Star King in January of 2015, and by a brother, Aven King.
