Born Aug. 11, 1925, in Bickmore, she was the daughter of the late Okey B. and Jessie (Arbogast) Neal. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Burdette Sr; sisters, Pauline Neal and Violet Samples; brothers, Denver "Dan" Neal and Johnny Neal; and half-brother, Okey "Chuck" Neal. She was a member of Horner's Fork Baptist Church, Procious, but attended Maysel Baptist Church before her illness, three years ago. Orpha is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell Jr. and Karen Burdette, and 11 half-siblings. Graveside service will be held at Sams Cemetery, Procious. on April 30, 2014.2

Marjorie was a Christian and a member of Procious Community Church and also attended Sand Run Gospel Tabernacle. She was a retired nurse and beautician. Marjorie loved the Lord and her children, grand-children and great grand-children above all else in life. She was very artistic and enjoyed oil painting, quilting and gardening. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands, Willard F. Burdette and Paul W. Conaway; son, Willard Burdette, Jr. (Billy); brothers, Ostel (Bub) Dobbins, Byrne Dobbins and Virgil Dobbins; and sisters Wanda Dobbins and Myrtle Short. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Paxton and husband Roger; son, Keith Allen Burdette and wife Teresa; grandsons, David Deusenberry and his wife Karen, Scott Deusenberry, Keith Burdette Jr., Billy Burdette and his wife Jan, Jimmy Burdette and his wife Kristy; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Samara Deusenberry, Tali Burdette, Casey, Tanaya and Ryan Burdette; and her first great-great grandson expected to arrive in April; brothers, Paul, Harry Jr., Don, Arthur (Doc) and Dennie Dobbins; sisters; Leona Barnhouse, Mary Shamblin, Dottie Orders, Gloria Osbourne, Allie Childers, Francis Fitzwater, Alice Dobbins and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Kanawha Hospice, Ruth Tyree and all those that helped make her comfortable during her final days. Othel was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Maggie Bell (Shamblin) Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Arthur Burdette Sr. December 17, 1980; sisters, Addie Davis Bragg and Pearl Davis; brothers, Herbert, Lloyd, Cecil, Clarence, Burley (Ray) and Lawrence (Larry) Davis. She was a member of the Liberty Advent Church where she worked in many capacities including Sunday School Teacher. She was also in the ladies auxiliary, Alpha Deta Kappa, life member of NEA and WVEA and a member of the Clay County Health Board. She also taught elementary school in various schools in Kanawha and Clay County for 35 years. Othel is survived by her daughters, Betty Robinson of Clendenin and Doris (Herman) McKown of Newton; sons, Arthur (Ruth) Burdette of Charleston and Charles (Chuck) Ray (Beth) Burdette of Clendenin; brothers, John Neldon Davis of Westminster, MD, Odbert (Bert) Nelson Davis of Parkersburg and Ralph Edwin Davis of Maysel; grandchildren, Sonja Fore, Allen Cantrell, Joy McKown, Herman McKown, Amy Beasley, Chet Burdette, Wanda Burdette and Charles (Charlie) Burdette; great great grandchildren, Jeremiah Halstead, Christine Halstead Ahn, Joshua Cantrell, Adam Cantrell, Reuben Beasley, Mya Beasley, Ava Beasley, Evan Burdette, Ethan Burdette, Eli Burdette, Layla Burdette, Brooklyn Burdette, Braydon Burdette and Brilee Burdette; step grandchildren, Randy Robinson and Robin Fairchild; the family would like to express a special thanks to Othel”s loving caregivers, Elisha and David Rucker, and Lorene Miller.      Russell Raymond Burdette Jr. Russell R. Burdette, Jr., 81 of Wallback went home to be with the Lord, Saturday February 25, 2023, at home after a short illness. Born September 26, 1941, the son of the late Russell Burdette, Sr. and Naomi Neal Burdette. He was retired from the Clay County Board of Education, Maintenance Dept., after 30 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Wallback. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen Hinkle Burdette; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Eva) Hinkle of Wallback, Willard (Kay) Hinkle of Mohawk, TN and sister-in-law, Patty Workman of Parkersburg. Special nieces by marriage, Kelli, Lori and Melani. Russell was a survivor of two kidney transplants. They both enjoyed taking their antique vehicles to car shows and doing projects around the house. He was a carpenter by trade and also a graduate of Clay County High School, Class of 1959. She was the daughter of the late Chester Arthur Burdette Sr. and Delcie Othel Davis Burdette. Doris was a lifelong member of Liberty Advent Christian Church Procious. She was a teacher at Clendenin Elementary School with 40 years of service, graduate of Marshall University and Clay County High School. She is survived by: husband Herman McKown Jr; daughter, Joy McKown of Newton; son, Herman McKown III; sister, Betty Robinson of Clendenin; brothers, Art Burdette of Charleston and Charles Ray “Chuck” Burdette of Procious.
