Mr. Conner was educated in Mercer County, was a former brick mason and former owner and operator of the Conner Tree Service in Princeton for many years. He was of the Southern Baptist faith. His children and family believed he was the strongest man in the whole wide world. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John J.C. Conner and a sister, Bonnie Mae Conner. Survivors include special lifelong companion, Laura Jane Powers; four children, Kim Conner, Tim Conner, Laura June Delp and husband, Timmy all of Princeton, Glenn Conner and wife, Beverly of Palestine, Texas; stepchildren, Teresa Sizemore, Pam Shew and husband, Orville all of Princeton; two sisters, Norma Ramos and husband, Glen, Carolyn Conner Blevins and husband, Blake all of Princeton; two brothers, Lawrence Conner and wife, Delma, Zinnie Conner Jr. and wife, Debbie all of Princeton; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Conner Family Cemetery just off the Kegley Trestle Road near Kegley on the family farm. Pallbearers will be Sammy White, Richard Hutson, Allen Dunagan, Allen Weeks, Kenny Pettrey, Robert Shumate, Lee and Scott Blankenship. Alternate pallbearers will be Jay, Shawn and Billy Lathan, Dale Robertson and Arnold Gullion. on November 23, 2002.⁵

     Marlen Lizeth Alas-Castillo was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5737 Airport Road NW, Roanoke, Virginia.¹ Her married name was Barnes.¹ She married Philip Carl Barnes Jr., son of Philip Carl Barnes Sr. and Elizabeth Jane "Jane" Conner.¹ Marlen Lizeth Alas-Castillo was born circa 1970.¹ She died on December 5, 2012.¹ She Marlen Lizeth Alas-Castillo Barnes, 42, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012. Marlen was preceded in death by her sister, Karla Yamslet. Marlen enjoyed sewing, needle point and spending time with her family especially her children. She was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Church. She is survived by her husband, Philip C. Barnes Jr; her mother, Maria Milla; Her father, Jose Cruz-Alas; her daughters, Joelin "Gabby" Barnes-Alas and Alejandra Maria Alas; her son, Darwen N. Alas; her sister, Iris Molina; her brothers, Geovanny "Freddy" Alas-Castillo and Denis Alonso Irias; her niece, Karla Carranza; and her nephew, Walter Carranza. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Iglesia Pentecostal Church with a service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Jorge Columbie will officiate. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel. on December 11, 2012.¹
