     Brenda Lee Proffitt was buried at Evergreen Burial Park, 1307 Summit Ave SW, Roanoke, Virginia.1 She was born on January 29, 1948 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,2 As of July 23, 1988,her married name was Love.2 She married James Neal Love, son of Alexander "Alex" Love and Nellie Dorothy Poff, on July 23, 1988 at Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.1 Brenda Lee Proffitt died on October 4, 2009 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 61.1 She Brenda Lee Love, 61, of Roanoke, Va., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 4, 2009, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Eunice Kester and James D. Proffitt. Her husbands, Donald Snidow and James N. Love; as well as her brother J.D. Proffitt; preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Ganella Bolden and husband, Tony, of Georgia, Dewayne Sarks and wife, Shari, of Roanoke, James Ray Sarks, of Roanoke, and Donna Ashe and husband, Michael, of Wirtz. Her grandchildren include Kaile Nunley, Samantha, Troy and Jacey Ashe, Kourtne Garland, Cameron, Austin, and Haley Sarks, Ashley Sarks and William Jones. Her sisters include Charlotte Musik and husband, Bill, of North Carolina, Janet Musik and husband, Babe, of West Virginia, Linda Rodkey, of Roanoke, and Cammy Campbell, of Christiansburg. She also had many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, Preston, Bud, Lucy, all her friends at the Lodge; and also her furry friends, Lucky and FuFu. She attended New Beginnings Church at Cloverdale. Interment at Evergreen Burial Park. Pastor Alan Woody and Elder Eddie Crews officiated and delivered her eulogy. The gentlemen serving as pallbearers were Dewayne Sarks, James Ray Sarks, Michael Ashe, Josh Campbell, Bubba Campbell and William Dickerson. on October 5, 2009.1

Born in Montgomery County, VA, he was the son of the late Elsie Swaim and Charles Hillard Meredith. He had lived in Smithfield since 1965. Jack leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55, Lydia Widdoes Meredith; daughter, Jill M. Barrett (Jack "Ray" Barrett, Jr.); son, Marvin Jack Meredith, Jr. (Ruth); seven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. He is also preceded in death by a sister and a brother. An inspector and bridge engineer, Jack retired from Virginia Dept of Transportation after 50 years of service. In his family's words, Jack was a real character, who never met a stranger and always had a joke to tell. He was a man of family and faith and was Sunday school teacher, deacon, and youth minister with Portsmouth Assembly of God and Smithfield Assembly of God. Jack was an avid fisherman, a Redskins football fan, and a national league baseball fan. Burial will follow in Old Brick Church Cemetery. on July 1, 2017.3

As a child and young adult, Theron was an active member of the Willis Chapel Church of God. Later in life, health issues kept him from attending local church services, but he made sure to attend "church" at home while watching Jimmy Swaggart and Joel Osteen. He enjoyed many activities over the years, including basketball, baseball, softball, bowling, fishing, gardening, and mushroom hunting. He was especially proud of his garden each summer, spending many hours caring for his prized corn, tomatoes, and cabbage. He spent his time attending his children and grandchildren's various sporting events, as well as rooting on his favorite teams: the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Theron was a 1956 graduate of Westfield High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Theron was a retired Pipefitter of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 157 in Terre Haute, IN. He played short stop for the Casey Truckers in the 1960’s and early 1970’s and was inducted into the Casey Softball Hall of Honor in 1995. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW, the Hazel Dell American Legion and the Martinsville American Legion. on January 18, 2016.1
