He had been treated for a heart condition this past summer. Mr. Reed joined the Iowa City School System in 1960 as a physical education instructor and coach at South East Junior High School. He joined the faculty of West High School in 1960 as a physical education instructor, and wrestling and assistant sophomore football coach. Before coming to Iowa City, he taught in Mount Vernon and Davenport. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Church, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Osage, to Aubrey and Doris Marquet Reed. He married E. Jean Collins June 7, 1951 at Osage. He attended St. Ambrose College, and received a bachelor of science degree in physical education in 1957 and a masters degree in 1963 from the University of Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, the Iowa City Teachers Association, National Education Association, Football Coaches Association and Wrestling Coaches Association. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael, Charles, Tom and Steven; one daughter, Ann: his mother; all of Iowa City; a brother, Robert, of Webster City; and one sister, Mrs. Stan (Wilma) Larson, of Phoenix. Ariz. His father, one son and a sister preceded him in death. on September 4, 1975.6

She passed away at the home of her parents in Osage on March 24, 1943. While still a baby, Marian moved with her parents to Pleasantville, Iowa, where she lived until they returned to Osage in the fall of 1940. When she was four years old she developed a weak heart and has been an invalid since. She was not able to attend school. For the past three months she has been confined to her bed most of the time, although recently she seemed to be improving. Death came quite suddenly while she was at play last Wednesday morning. She is survived by her parents; one sister, Wilma Mae; one brother, Kenneth Lee; and her grandfather, Joseph Reed. Funeral services will be held at the Champion Funeral Home on Friday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Stiles Lessly, with burial in the Osage cemetery. on March 25, 1943.5

He was preceded in death by: his parents; by a brother, Morris Riker; by a sister, Betty Riker; by a stepson, John Bierbrodt; by an infant daughter; and by grandchildren, Hailey Riker and Samuel Riker Jr. Arrangments are by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, Iowa. on August 6, 2008.2

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion Funeral Home, 702 State St., Osage, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a scripture service at 7 p.m. Cynthia Wigant was born May 5, 1949, in Osage, the daughter of Herbert and Angela (Hemann) Werner. She graduated from Osage High School in 1967 and received her associate of arts degree from NIACC in Mason City. She was employed at Comprehensive Systems in Osage for 15 years and for 11 years at the Iowa Department of Human Services, until her illness disabled her. Cindy married Maylon Wigant on June 29, 1990, in Alexandria, Minn. They lived in Osage. Maylon died Oct. 3, 1993. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Legion auxiliaries. She loved family gatherings and outdoor activities. She is survived by her parents, Herb and Angie Werner, Osage; stepdaughter, Jennifer Lujan and her husband, Victor, of Tucson, Ariz; siblings, Jim Werner and his wife, Dort, and their children, Christi, Lindsey and Brittany, and Randy Werner and wife, Myra and their children, Aaron, Danny, Emily, Tyson and Nikolas, of Northwood; Dori Werner, of Rochester, Minn; Joe Werner, of Osage; Le Gene Smith and her husband, Alan, Osage, and their children, Amy Folkerts and husband, Rex, Jon Smith and wife, Michelle; John Werner and wife, Carolyn, of Osage, and their children, Derrick and Mandy; Andy Werner, Ft. Smith, Ark., and his children, Jessica and Andrew; a great-nephew and a great-niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maylon, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
