Ms. Davis was a former telephone operator in the business office in Hinton and was retired from the Sanitary Department for the City of Hinton. She was a 1947 graduate of Hinton High School and was a member of the Hinton Business & Professional Women’s Club and the Bowling Club. She was also a member of Hinton United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Davis. Survivors include several cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Rick Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. on May 27, 2011.1

Born in Summers County, March 10, 1892, he was a son of the late William H.P. and Mary Young Bennett. He had lived all his life in Raleigh and Summers counties. Bennett had lived at Beaver for six years. Survivors include five brothers, Frank, Lake and Gus, all of the Madams Creek area, James of Beaver and Jeff Bennett of Princeton; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lowe of Beaver, Mrs. John Bower of Jumping Branch and Mrs. Earl Waddell of St.Albans; and one grandson. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors with the Rev. Shirley Donnelly in charge. Burial will be in the family cemetery on Madams Creek. Members of the Beaver Veterans of Foreign Wars will serve as pallbearers, and the Hinton National Guard Unit will be in charge of graveside rites. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her father, Boude Bennett of Madams Creek, and an infant son, Donald Harold Smith. on September 13, 1948.4

"Sam" Glass died on December 28, 1934 at Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 46.6,4,5 He Sam B. Glass, aged 47 years, died Friday morning, Dec. 28, 1934, at 11:30 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. D. W. Fry, of Cross street, following a nine weeks illness. His passing was due to a stroke of paralysis which Mr. Glass suffered at the inception of his fatal illness. For several years, however, he had been in a bad state of health. Mr. Glass was born January 1, 1888, was a son of the late J. Henry Glass and wife, long well known residents of Hinton. He resided in Hinton the major part of his life, and besides his loved ones, leaves a great many friends. Mr. Glass was a member of the First Baptist church. For a number of years he had been engaged in the plumbing business here. Mr. Glass is survived by two sisters, Mrs. D. W. Fry and Mrs. H. W. Bird; also a brother, H. F. Glass, all of this city. Burial was made in Hill Top cemetery. on January 3, 1935.4

Glass, 28 years old, died at his home, 2218 Lind street, this morning at 3 o'clock from pneumonia, after an illness of ten days, says Tuesday issue of the Quincy (ill) Journal. Mr. Glass was born in Hinton, W.Va., April 19, 1890, and came to Quincy four years ago. He was a machinist and was in the employ of the Electric Wheel Works. He was married to Miss Ruth Arlington, of Dawson, Okla., April 30, 1910, and besides his wife, he is survived by two childrens Charles, Jr., aged 5 years, and Lucille, aged 3 years; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Glass, and two brothers and two sisters, all of Hinton; one of the brothers is now with the American forces in France. His parents arrived at Quincy Sunday morning and were with their son at the time of his death. Mr. Glass was a member of the Baptist church. on December 19, 1918.4

The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Baptist church. The sermon will be preached by Rev. Northern, the pastor. Members of the order of railroad conductors, machinists and Daughters of Pocahontas will attend the funeral in a body. Interment will be in Hill Top cemetery. The remains were accompanied here by the husband, S. T. Harrison, and his two brothers, James and Benjamin. Mrs. Harrison, while a resident of Hinton was a faithful member of First Baptist church and a devout Christian. She devoted much of her time to Sunday school work and took a deep interest in the little children. Her death came as a great shock to everyone in Hinton who knew her. Expressions of sympathy for the husband, parents, brothers and sisters and other relatives of the deceased, are heard on every hand. on March 2, 1911.5

     Dewey William Frye was buried at Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton, Summers Co., West Virginia.5,4 He was born on November 5, 1900 at Union, Monroe Co., West Virginia; His WWI Draft Registration card has a birth date of Dec 5, 1900 and his WWII card has Dec 5, 1902.6,5,3,4 He married Lelia Elizabeth Glass, daughter of James Henry Glass and Margaret Elizabeth "Maggie" Lawrence, on January 2, 1925 at Summers Co., West Virginia; Lelia and Dewey were both listed as divorced at the time of their marriage.7,8 Dewey William Frye died on November 8, 1969 at Summers Co., West Virginia, at age 69.2,5,4 He Dewey W. Frye, 69, of Hilldale, died at 2:58 a.m. Saturday in a Hinton hospital after a short illness. He was born Nov. 5, 1900, in Union, a son of the late William and Leona Raines Frye. He was a retired C&O Railway employe. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Patsy) Wiseman, Hampton, Va; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Cook, Flatwood, Ky., Mrs. Hallie Ellison, Hinton and Mrs. Clyde Davis of Florida; two brothers, Edward of Maryland, and Roy of Covington, Va., and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at the E. M. Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton with the Rev. Mark Forren in charge. Burial will be in Restwood Memorial Estates. The body will remain at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be George Lewis Dillon Jr., Bulis Pettry, Henry Dillon, Woody Hicks, Ernest Cox and Aubrey Hill. on November 9, 1969.5
