She was a member of the Woman's Club of Cedar Grove and the American Nurses Association, and belonged to the alumni association of St. Vincent's Hospital. Surviving are her husband, James A; two sons, James T. and John P., both at home; two daughters, the Misses Gail A. and Susan A., also at home, and a brother, Leo C. Besides France, he saw duty in Germany and North Africa, and received a Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars. He graduated from Westchester College (PA), later earning his Masters degree in music. He taught music and Shakespeare with great fervor to his students in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. A disability led to early retirement from the Ktttaning, PA public schools at which time he moved to Miami to be near other family members. He was an ardent traveler and explorer of the world, eagerly sharing his stories and momentoes. In recent years he was an active member of the Epworth Village community. He was easily recognized by his trademark berets, of which he had many and shared generously with family and friends. Surviving are nieces, Linda Wellenhofer and Wendy Walter of Miami, Moilie Stolle of NC, nephew Tom Guthrie of Los Angeles, beloved sister-in-law Ethlyn Walter, longtime companion John Rodriquez, six great and nine great-great nieces and nephews. on June 6, 2002.⁶

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Shea, who died Jan. 25, 2012; four brothers, C. Victor, Robert A., H. Arthur and James C. Wick; and five sisters, A. Olive Trout, Mattie E. Parker, Marian Ripper, Harriet Staley and Helen Bargerstock Burke. on January 18, 2014.¹

He earned numerous military decorations during his career, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with a Silver Oak Leaf Cluster (for 5 additional awards). Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a Scottish Rite Shriner. DadGranddad is survived by his wife, daughter Barbara Turk, son-in-law Toni Richard Turk, grandsons Robert, Lawrence and David - all of Blanding. He is also survived by three granddaughters-in-law, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Gladys Moore of New York and Sylvia Horne of Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by parents, two brothers and a sister. One brother, Bate, was killed in action during World War II on November 20, 1944, in Germany. DadGranddad wras laid to rest December 22 in the Blanding City Cemetery. The US Air Force Honor Guard from Hill AFB assisted with the graveside ceremony. He was a giving and a caring man. We all love and miss him and look forward to being with him again someday. The family would like to thank everyone for the kindness and support shown during this difficult time of our loss. on December 24, 1997.⁶

     Ernestine Margaret Madill Ernestine Anderson, 86, formerly of Vandergrift, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in the Oakmont Presbyterian Nursing Home. She was born May 25, 1920, in Summerville, the daughter of the late Samuel and Belle Martin Madill, and had lived in Vandergrift most of her life. She was a member of the Vandergrift Presbyterian Church and enjoyed reading, knitting, her church and especially her family. She is survived by two sons, Rick (Sue) Anderson, of York, and Sam (Dixie) Anderson, of Oakmont; a daughter, Susan (Larry) Sebak, of Talmadge, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Jackie Morrison, Larry Sebak, Barbara Gorczyca, Jill and Lauren Anderson and Hannah, Kate and Blair Anderson; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Madill, of Westerville, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Anderson, in 2003; a sister, Luella Stahl; and a brother, William Madill.
