He was a member of the Kiwanis and the Rotary clubs, the Masons, and the Syria Shrine. He enjoyed golfing. John worked for the Crane Co. locally as a branch manager for 14 years and then as the Midwest manager for 35 years in Chicago before retiring. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ora W. Shea; a sister, Margaret Coles of Blending, Utah; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Norris and Ruth Buzas. SHEA - Friends of John Edward Shea, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, will be received at Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. Saturday. Military honors will be given by the VFW 249 and the American Legion 778. Interment will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250. on January 26, 2012.2

Ruth retired from Ohio Bell after 43 years of dedicated service, was an avid gardener, and was the best of cooks. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Mrs. Martin truly lived the Christian life and was very active in her church. She was a member of the Pioneer Club and The Chapel in University Park. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clair B. Martin; parents, Burton and Myrtle (Campbell) Gillespie; brothers, Everet, Reason, and Lee; sisters, Agnes and Janice. She is survived and will be deeply missed by daughter, Sandra L. Martin; grandchildren, Lisa Ruth Nevling and Nicholas Martin (Taja) Manuselis; brothers, John Burton, Lynn (Goldie) Gillespie, Robert (Maxine) Gillespie; sister-in-law, Hazel Gillespie; numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special thanks to her caregivers, especially Kathy, who was with her the longest, and Julie, who always made her laugh. Special thanks also to dear friends, Cloyd Bachus and Jean Morton, for their love and support throughout the years, and to the Hospice Care Center for their support and care during this difficult time. on May 17, 2000.1

Elaine Ceriani, 93, 11 West Long Ave., DuBois, formerly of Brockway, passed away Saturday Aug. 18, 2012, at DuBois Regional Medical Center West. Born April 25, 1919, in Summerville, she was a daughter of the late William L. and Lottie Mae Huffman Martin. She was married to Julio Ceriani, who preceded her in death in 2004. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She is survived by two sons, William (Flozanne) Ceriani of Mt. Lebanon and James of Boalsburg; two daughters, Holly (Mark) DeVries of York and Laurie (Richard) Audenaert of DuBois; three grandchildren, Janell Devries, Eric Devries and Claire Ceriani; and one great-grandson, Trenton Geesey. Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday with the service at 2 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Brockway, with Pastor Ed Reich officiating. Burial will be in St. Tobias Cemetery in Brockway. on August 20, 2012.3

He taught music and Shakespeare with great fervor to his students in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. A disability led to early retirement from the Ktttaning, PA public schools at which time he moved to Miami to be near other family members. He was an ardent traveler and explorer of the world, eagerly sharing his stories and momentoes. In recent years he was an active member of the Epworth Village community. He was easily recognized by his trademark berets, of which he had many and shared generously with family and friends. Surviving are nieces, Linda Wellenhofer and Wendy Walter of Miami, Moilie Stolle of NC, nephew Tom Guthrie of Los Angeles, beloved sister-in-law Ethlyn Walter, longtime companion John Rodriquez, six great and nine great-great nieces and nephews. on June 6, 2002.6

Air Force Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a Scottish Rite Shriner. DadGranddad is survived by his wife, daughter Barbara Turk, son-in-law Toni Richard Turk, grandsons Robert, Lawrence and David - all of Blanding. He is also survived by three granddaughters-in-law, 13 great-grandchildren, sisters Gladys Moore of New York and Sylvia Horne of Pennsylvania. He is preceded in death by parents, two brothers and a sister. One brother, Bate, was killed in action during World War II on November 20, 1944, in Germany. DadGranddad wras laid to rest December 22 in the Blanding City Cemetery. The US Air Force Honor Guard from Hill AFB assisted with the graveside ceremony. He was a giving and a caring man. We all love and miss him and look forward to being with him again someday. The family would like to thank everyone for the kindness and support shown during this difficult time of our loss. on December 24, 1997.6
