Christensen, 78, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Maxwell and North Platte, died Dec. 16, 2003, after a year long battle with leukemia. She was born Aug. 10, 1925, to William Lloyd and Jessie M. Littrell Roberts at Maxwell. She attended and graduated from Maxwell Public School in 1943. She taught for a year at O’Fallon School before she married Richard Christensen on Oct. 1, 1945. They resided in Maxwell until 1985, when they retired and moved to Kansas City, Mo. Richard preceded her in death in March 1998. Mrs. Christensen was a member of the Avondale Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo., and taught Sunday school for 15 years there. She was an active member of the Prime Timers and served as a program director. She was also a Sunday school teacher at the Berean Church in North Platte, for many years. One of life’s blessings was that she was able to see each of her children and grandchildren accept Jesus as their personal Savior. She was a 4-H leader for Busy Bees Club. She traveled to see her children in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Arizona regularly. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. She always celebrated their accomplishments in academics and sports. She enjoyed stitchery and had made each grandchild a special baby blanket to be cherished and used for her great-grandchildren now and to come. Survivors include four daughters, Karen Pounds of Yukon, Okla., Susan (Paul) Evans of Bayard, Dena (Wesley) Wehrman and Kerry (David) Coombe, all of Kansas City, Mo; five sons, Bob (Phyllis) Christensen, Karl (Nancy) Christensen, all of Maxwell, Eric (Georgetta) Christensen of Mesa, Ariz., David (Sharon) Christensen of Papillion, and Jonathan Christensen of Holdrege; 20 grandchildren, Christine (Timm) Wilson of Kearney, James (Michelle) Christensen of Kansas City, Sgt. John Christensen of Japan, Elizabeth (Rob) Mintz of Charleston, S. C., Sara (Mitch) Brickey, Tim (Gayla) Pounds, Katie Pounds, all of Yukon, Okla., Michael Wehrman of New Haven, Conn., Andrew Wehrman of Fayetteville, Ark., Richard Evans of Bayard, Colleen, Patrick, and Ruth Christensen of Maxwell, Joshua, Caleb, and Lydia Christensen of Mesa, Rachel and Morgan Coombe of Kansas City, and Zachariah and Abraham Christensen of Papillion; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob and Clayton Wilson, Allixandra, Abigail and Jacob Brickey, Brannen and Colton Pounds, and Tristram and Luke Christensen. They also enjoyed traveling to visit their grandchildren. Mrs. Peckham was a member of the Brady Methodist Church where she was active in WSCS. She was also a past member of the American Hereford Association, the Nebraska Cattleman's Association, the Nebraska Cowbelles and numerous other cattle industry organizations. She was active in 4-H leadership and participated in Extension Club. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Tyson) Dillard of Oakview, Calif; a son, Jerry (Susan) of Coffeyville, Kan; five grandchildren, Jason of Boulder Colo., Alisha of Manhattan, Kan., Dustin, Jessie and Casey Dillard of Oakview, Calif; and a sister, Enid Christensen of Kansas City. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers. He also served on the Maxwell Town Board and was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of Maxwell; two daughters, Christine (Timm) Wilson of Kearney and Elizabeth (Robert) Mintz of Charleston, S.C; two sons, James (Michelle) Christensen of Kansas City, Mo., and John F.
