Born near Beckley on March 16, 1889, he was the son of George W. and Susan Mankin Richardson, both deceased. He was a lifelong resident of Raleigh County and a coal miner until he first became ill. He was a member of the Lester Church of Christ and the United Mine Workers of America. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lottie Canaday Richardson; five sons, Donald, of Salem, N.J., James, of the U.S. Army, Marvin, of Denver, Col., Raymond, and Bobby; both of Lester; two daughters, Mrs. Clayton Mills of Sophia and Mrs. Dorothy Gray of Lockwood; a brother, Lawton Richard, son of Lester; a sister, Mrs. Maude Hedrick of Wickham; and 11 grandchildren. on September 18, 1952.5
