Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Jonesville, Va., to Marvin and Viola Hines Eagle, he married Joann Pryde in 1953 in Galesburg. He later married Janet Selkirk on Jan. 3, 1977, in Port Isabel, Texas. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Daniel Eagle of Smyma, Tenn., and Robert Selkirk of Knoxville; three daughters, Jayne Fowler of Galesburg, Diane Eagle of Smyma and Jennifer Selkirk of Bloomington; one brother, Delbert Neil of Galesburg; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. He served in the Marines during World War II. He worked at Admiral Corp. and served as vice president and director of manufacturing from 1951 to 1973. He worked at Midwest Control Products in Bushnell from 1976 to 1984, serving as vice president of quality control. He later returned to Admiral, now Maytag Corp., where he retired in 1990 from the manufacturing and engineering department. He served as treasurer for the Prairie Wood Environmental Coalition and was a member and secretary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257. He also belonged to the Maytag Management Club. He was a charter member of Antique Aircraft and was a founding member of the Country Music Association. He attended the University of Illinois and was attending Carl Sandburg College. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Hinchliff-Pearson- West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Pizzamiglio and David Beversdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery, with military honors performed by his VFW post. on December 27, 1995.³

Eagle, 83, Galesburg, passed away at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. Delbert was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Jonesville, Va., the son of Marvin and Viola Haines Eagle. Delbert married Kathryn Sams in Las Vegas in July 1978. She survives of Galesburg. Also surviving are his children, Cheryl (Dan) Koeritz of Wheaton, Brad (Melodie) Eagle of Victoria, and Richard (Ruth) Eagle of Altona; stepdaughter, Sandy Meinhart of Knoxville; and stepson, Steve (Debbie) Powers of Mahomet. He also is survived by a sister-in-law, Janet Eagle of Henderson; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Burl Eagle, James Eagle and Kenneth Eagle. He was reared and educated in Altona. After high school, he joined the Navy at the end of World War II. He worked for Gale Products for more than 30 years as a foreman. He was a member of both Knoxville and Altona Masonic lodges and also a member of the NRA. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gun collector. Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no services. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Altona. on August 3, 2011.⁴

Eagle and Floria Viola Frances Hines, in July, 1978 at Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada.^1,2 Kathryn "Kay" Sams died on February 1, 2012 at Galesburg, Knox Co., Illinois, at age 84.^2,3 She Kay Eagle, 84 of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 11:25 PM, February 1, 2012, at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born February 7, 1927 in Danville, Iowa. The Daughter of "Connie" (New) and Clarence Sams. Kay graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944. She married, Richard (Dick) M. Powers July 16, 1944. Her philosophy in life was: "You simply play the cards that you are dealt." Handicapped from Polio in 1946 and having twins in 1949 did not stop her from obtaining goals in life, including returning to College at the age of 40. She moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1956 where she resided for 37 years. She worked at Hughes Aircraft Company, Managed a chain of hotels and a pest control company during her working career. Kay married Delbert N. Eagle in July 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in Sahuarita, Arizona until July 1993 and then moved back to Galesburg, Illinois to be closer to family. She touched many lives during her short journey here on earth and was an inspiration to her family as well as friends. With her positive outlook on life, she conquered many obstacles that came her way; she would just smile and continue without a "Complaint." She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Eagle, Grandparents, and Parents. Surviving are two children, Sandy Meinhart, Knoxville, Illinois, Steve (Deb) Powers, Mahomet, Illinois. Three Stepchildren, Cheryl (Dan) Koertz of Wheaton, Illinois, Brad (Mel) Eagle, Victoria, Illinois. Rick (Ruth) Eagle, Altona, Illinois. Also surviving are 4 Grandchildren, Kevin L. Meinhart, Victoria, Texas; Stephanie Falls, Mahomet, Illinois; Danielle (Dustin) Tarter, Mahomet, Illinois; Tara (Mario) Morales, Mahomet, Illinois. 7 Grandchildren; 11 Step-Grandchildren and 14 Step-Great Grandchildren. Also surviving a Niece and Nephew of Sahuarita, Arizona Beth Ann Coonts (Steve) and Mark (Ann) Wyland and Sister-in-Law Janet Eagle of Wataga. Our heart-felt thanks go to the staff of Marigold Nursing Home, Harbor Lights Hospice and Dr. Hill for all your loving care and concern shown to our Mother. Cremation rites will be accorded and per her wishes there will be no public visitation or service. She will be taken "Home" to Tucson, Arizona with private family services. on February 7, 2012.²
