Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Dr. Stephen Webb and Rev. Bruce Sack will officiate with burial to follow. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, 2011, prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Kunes was born on May 16, 1925 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He lived in Tifton for over 65 years, having married Sara Nelson "Jennie" Kunes on February 1, 1946. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie Kunes, and his son, Doug Kunes. Mr. Kunes was a veteran of the United States Army; was a former Judge of the City Court of Tifton; Past President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Associaton; Past Exalted Ruler and Lifetime Member of the Tifton Elks Lodge; member of the Springhill Country Club; member of the First United Methodist Church in Tifton; member of the State Bar of Georgia; and various other legal associations. Mr. Kunes was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia on February 24, 1949, after studying at Stetson University and Mercer School of Law. Mr. Kunes actively practiced law in Tifton for almost 62 years. Mr. Kunes is survived by a sister-in-law, Billie Nelson Puckett of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Rhonda Kunes of Tifton; his grandchildren and their spouses, Nelson and Christy Kunes of Tifton, Patrick Kunes of Tifton, Amy and Stephen Tinsley of Savannah; his great-grandchildren, Mitchell Kunes, Davis Kunes, Landon Tinsley and Madison Tinsley; as well as special assistant and friend, Kathy Ball; and special caregiver, Patricia Pollard.3 His Social Security Number was 198-16-7083.6 He was born on May 16, 1925 at Erie, Erie Co., Pennsylvania.3,4,6 He married Sara "Jennie" Nelson on February 1, 1946.3 George Gerald "Jerry" Kunes died on June 16, 2011 at Tifton, Tift Co., Georgia, at age 86.3,6

She was the daughters of J.G. and Willie Mae Jacobs Nelson, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Nelson Kunes; a brother, Rex Nelson; and a sister, Betty Smith. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tifton and a homemaker. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, G. Gerald Kunes of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Kunes Jr. and Rhonda of Tifton; a sister, Billie Nelson Puckett of St. Augustine, Fla; three grandchildren, Nelson (Christy) Kunes, Amy (Steven) Tinsley and Patrick A. Kunes; two great-grandchildren Madison and Landon Tinsley; and nieces and nephews, Tom Puckett Jr. (Beth) of Orlando, Fla. and Peggy Clements (Moe) of Tifton. on December 10, 2006.2

     Cecelia "Jean" Campana Cecelia "Jean" Kunes, 95, of Avis, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Sunday morning, Aug. 25, 2013, at the Bob Fryer and Inpatient Hospice Center in Mount Joy, Pa. Born Cecelia Cristina Campana on Dec. 28, 1917, in Mill Hall, she was the second daughter of Michael and Carmella Yonne Campana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton "Leo" Kunes, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. Her first husband, Fiori Mancini, died in 1946. Jean was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church where she was very active in the church auxiliary. She is survived by her only son, Gregory (Tracey) Kunes, of Lancaster; two beloved grandchildren, Joshua Kunes, of Avis and Autumn (Christopher) Hunara, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Shelley Kunes, of Norman, Okla., and one great-grandson, Aiden Thomas Kunes, of Avis. Jean is also survived by two sisters, Rosie Massaro and Violet (Charles) Russo, both of Jersey Shore, and was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Jean loved caring for her home and nourished people around her with love, faith, and food, a guest never left hungry. The greatest joy of her life was her son, Greg, grandson, Josh, and granddaughter, Autumn. She enjoyed her flower garden and collecting crystal baskets and Precious Moment’s figurines.
