In her spare time, Lila enjoyed sewing, cooking and working with flowers. She is survived by her children, Bonnie Gowen Reese and husband, Michael, of Arrington, Jerry R. Smith and wife, Ronda, of Forest, and Terry C. Smith of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Wayne Reese of Texas, David Reese of California, Christopher Reese of North Carolina, and Justin, Kendall and Nicholas Smith, all of Forest; and four siblings, Lucille Cofflin of Lynchburg, Bernice White of Arrington, Frank Gowen of Lynchburg, and Fred Gowen of Hagerstown, Md. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Johnny Gowen and Evelyn Hanks. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park. on October 1, 2005.2

Reese, of Arrington, one sister, Lucille Cofflin, of Lynchburg, two brothers, Frank L. Gowen Jr., of Lynchburg, and Fred H. Gowen, of Hagerstown, Md., and two grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the graveside in the Reese family cemetery at Arrington with the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. on December 3, 2008.3
