He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a graduate of West Virginia Tech. He began his teaching career in 1951 at Blue Knob Elementary School, Clay County, and later taught at Clay County High School. He was a former teacher and basketball coach and Nitro High School in the 60s, a former principal at Sissonville High School and a former principal at Ben Franklin Career and Technical Center, Dunbar, before retiring from the Kanawha County Board of Education. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Nitro. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 97, Clay, and Scottish Rite Bodies and Beni Kedem Shrine, Charleston. He was a former "Hometown Hero," a member of the Nitro Senior Citizens Advisory Board and a community volunteer who will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Betty Haines-Moore of Nitro; brother and his wife, Carl Don and Avis Moore of Clay; stepbrothers, Nelson Moore of Virginia and Gordon Moore and his wife, Judy, of Lizemores; niece, Vicky Moore-Cunningham of Charleston; along with many other nieces and nephews and many friends. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. on March 8, 2005.2

Born on May 31, 1929, he was the son of Irving and Alice (McCune) Moore. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Hubert (Betty) and Marvin; and his sisters, Glenna Belt and Ethel Moore; and nephew, Jim Belt. He was a graduate of Morris Harvey College and obtained a master's degree from West Virginia University. He taught and coached for many years and also served as assistant superintendent of Clay County Schools. He served as the mayor of Clay, chairman of the Democratic Party and pursued many projects to improve his community. He was a lifelong Mason and a Shriner. He had lifelong passion for teaching, loved children and was known to his grandchildren and their friends as "Daddy Don." He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Avis Starcher Moore; his daughter, Vicki Cunningham Morris of Charleston; and his son-in-law and dear friend, Ira Morris; grandsons, Ryan Cunningham of Charleston, Barry Cunningham (JT) of Dublin, Ohio; and great-grandson, Chance. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, David, Matt and Joel Morris, all of California and Rachel Regan of Md; and great-grandchildren, Nicole, Collin and Erin. Burial will be in the Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery, Nebo, with Masonic Rite Clay Lodge 97 graveside service. The family wishes to thank Becky and Mike Morris, Kay Hubbard, Debbie Rapp, and Leigha Thomas for their loving care and support. They also express appreciation for the services of Kanawha Charleston Hospice and the Emergency Medical Services staff of Clay and Kanawha Counties. on July 25, 2016.4

He was a graduate of Clay County High School, class of 1947, and a Korean War veteran of the 82nd Airborne paratrooper unit. Bill was a graduate of the Applied Art Academy of Akron, Ohio. He spent 30 years with the W.Va. Division of State Parks and Recreation as both a Park Superintendent of Droop Mountain State Park and Sign Supervisor for the state parks in West Virginia, located on Carnifex Ferry State Park. Bill was a Christian and member of the Irish Street Church of Christ in Summersville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Surviving: Wife, Deloris Love Davis; daughters, Jill McCoy, Joy (Harlan) Metheney; sons, Joe (Sonja), Jeff (Robin), Jim (Lisa), Jason Davis; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Davis; and sisters, Helen Keeling, Joan Hunt. Burial with military honors will follow in the W.Va. Memorial Gardens at Calvin. on December 30, 2018.3

He was a graduate of East Bank High School and Morris Harvey College. He earned his Master's degree from Marshall University. "Jay" Keeling, Jr. of Eleanor; his granddaughter, Holly DesMeules who is a student at High Point University, High Point, NC; his grandson, Kameron Keeling who is a student at The Art Institute of Ohio; his brother, Wilbur Leon (Mona) Keeling of Teays Valley; his sister, Janet Carpenter of Columbus, OH. Jack was a member of the Eleanor Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder, deacon, and Clerk of Session of various Presbyterian churches. He was a member of Kanawha Valley Masonic Lodge #36, Buffalo, WV. (Jack was looking forward to receiving his 50 year Masonic pin in March, 2012). A member of the Tri-County #51, Kanawha Commandry #4, Scottish Rite Bodies KCCH Valley of Charleston, Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, and was past president of Ohio Valley Shrine Club, Parkersburg, WV. Jack drove over 100,000 miles taking children to the Shriner's Children's Hospital and also made over 35 trips to the Cincinnati Burn Center. During his lifetime, he was employed by United Fuel Gas Co. and Union Carbide, Institute Plant. After graduating from college, he was employed as an instructor for the Pleasant and Wood County Boards of Education at the Vocational Centers until retiring in 1991. Bruce was retired from the Goodyear/Shell plant in Apple Grove. Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, E. Joan Hunt; his children; Cynthia Hunt of Fraziers Bottom, and Gregory Lee Hunt (Melanie) of St. Albans; his brothers, Ed Hunt (Linda) of Charleston, and Berlin Hunt (Phyllis) of Lizemore, and John Hunt (Anita) of Newton; Sister, Heidi Scarlett (Larry) of Richwood; grandchildren; Todd Smith of Fraziers Bottom, Travis Hunt (Azsha) of Scott Depot, Brandon Hunt of St. Albans, and Jessica Cox (Adam) of Given; great grandchildren, Brayliegh Hunt, Brentley Hunt, Sam Cox, and Aubrey Cox; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.      Jack Warren Davis Jack Warren Davis, age 83, of Hudson, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born July 25, 1934 in Clay, West Virginia to the late John Edward and Edith Lee McCune Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Carl Davis, and Garrett Davis; and sister Wanita Childers. Mr. Davis proudly served his Nation in the United States Army and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Jack “Warren” Davis, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Vilas, N.C; two brothers, Harry Davis and wife Lynn, and Glen Davis and wife Delores, all of West Virginia; two sisters, Helen Keeling, and Joan Hunt, both of West Virginia; and best friend, Bonnie Davis of Granite Falls. A Graveside Service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park conducted by Rev.
