"Her children rise up and bless her" (Proverbs 31:28.) She was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. (Ben) Hancock; her parents, B.R. (Ben) and Rosa Lee Montgomery; three brothers, C.A. Montgomery, F.G. (Creed) Montgomery and Raymond Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Virginia Hancock; and grandson, Wayne Hancock. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Hancock, Goodview; sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin Hancock, Salem, Jack and Mary Hancock, Zane and Peggy Hancock, Dexter and Linda Hancock, all of Goodview; grandchildren, Glen Hancock, Darlene Hancock, Sandra Hancock Manning and husband, Kevin, Salem, Brian Hancock and Ellen, Roanoke, Kevin and Jeffrey Hancock, Goodview; great- grandchildren, Amy Hancock, Amber Hancock, both of Salem, Stephen and Matthew Hancock, both of Roanoke, Presten Hancock, Roanoke; her sister, Blanche M. Young, Danville; brother and sister-in-law, W.G. (Bill) and Lila Montgomery, Rocky Mount; sister-in-law, Betty Montgomery, Roanoke; four nieces and their families; two stepgrandchildren, Glenn Turner, and Margaret Ann Brammer. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 12, 1999 from the Lotz Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Dennis E. Moore and the Rev. Carol Welch will officiate. Burial to follow in Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Her children wish to express gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and kindness during her most recent illness (Especially her nurse Barbara Huffman). Dr. Gerald Roller and his colleagues and staff at IMA, Dr. Lee Myers and his staff and Dr. James Gooding for their medical care and kindness in her final years. The family request that anyone wishing to honor her make memorial contributions to Good Samaritan Hospice, the Debt Retirement Fund of Beaverdam Baptist Church or Chamblissburg Rescue Squad. on September 11, 1999.1

He was born April 6, 1927 in Franklin County, Va., son of the late, William and Mary Montgomery Hancock. He was preceded in death by wives, Virginia Hancock and Janie Hancock; son, Wayne Hancock; mother-in-law, Mae Cundiff; granddaughter, Amy Hancock; son-in-law, Kevin Manning; brother, Jack Hancock; and nephews, Kevin Hancock and Michael Sloane. Benjamin retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad with 44 years of service. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of CommUNITY Church. He was a master of all trades and was always helping someone. He was always smiling and everyone that met him liked him. His nickname on the railroad was "Gentle Ben". Benjamin was a very patient man and he loved to dance, wood working, travel, church trips and family vacations. His family feels very fortunate to have had him in their lives and he loved his family very much.He is survived by his son, Glenn Hancock and fiancée, Barbara Griffith; daughters, Darlene Hancock and Sandra Hancock Manning; granddaughter, Amber Dawn Hancock who had a very special relationship with her grampa, and her significant other, Blake Boone; also surviving are his sister, Elaine Hancock; Brothers, Zane Hancock and wife, Peggy, Dexter Hancock and wife, Linda; sisters-in-law, Mary Hancock and Marie Sloane; and all his many nephews and cousins.The family would like to thank Carilion Home Health Care, Carilion Hospice, Brenda and Matt Sloane for their care of Benjamin. The family also extends a special thank you to a very special person, Evelyn Taylor, his caregiver. He called her "The Woman" and we can't explain how much she did for our father and our family. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the chapel of John M. He worked at Burlington Mills, Goodyear, farmed and run an auto mechanic shop. He loved helping people and was a dear friend to everybody in the community. In addition to his wife he is survived by three children; Monica Doss of Penhook, Nikki Lawrence of Chatham, and Hilbert Stone Lawrence II of Callands; five granddaughters, Sasha Lawrence of Rocky Mount, Jena Hutson of Rocky Mount, Davin Adkins of Chatham, and a special granddaughter Heather Adkins that he raised as his own, and Krystal Doss of Penhook; one great-grandson, Logan Jones of Rocky Mount; two brothers, Aubrey Lawrence of Chatham and Ed Lawrence of Penhook; two sisters, Shirley L. Doss and her husband, J.M. Doss of Chatham and Myrtle L. Thornton and husband, Joseph Thornton of College Park, Md. and a number of nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Leon Mason and his wife Oneda of Ferrum, and Stuart Mason and his wife Susan of Rocky Mount. He was predeceased by two sisters Ethridge L. Thornton and Linda F. Lawrence, and one brother, Samuel A. Lawrence. Funeral services were conducted at Scott Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, April 4, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Russell East, III officiating. Burial was at Adkins Lawrence Family Cemetery. Scott Funeral Home in Chatham was respectfully serving the Lawrence family. on April 7, 2008.2

He was born January 13, 1932, a son of the late Charlie Vestal Johnson and Mattie Martha McKinney Johnson. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Ruth Young, Mary Martin, Elsie Lamkin, Nelsie Johnson, and Darlene Johnson, and three brothers, Paul, Dewey and Ray Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Clarice Mason Johnson, of the home; daughter, Joy Johnson Swicegood (Gary), of Sydnorsville; granddaughter, Morgan; sisters, Rebecca Taylor, of Rocky Mount, Lola Mason, of Winston-Salem, N.C; brother, Ralph Johnson, of Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews, with special thanks to Bonnie Sink, Betty McGhee, and Monty Lamkin. Jimmy retired from American of Martinsville and was an avid coon hunter and raised beagles. He also loved rabbit hunting and riding his "gator". He attended Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Sydnorsville. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Mark Deane officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Rita Doughton, 2085 Crooked Oak Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 or please consider planting a tree in his memory. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The Rev. Edward T. Creel will officiate, and burial will follow at the Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery.      Andrew Jackson Walker was buried at Pulaski Cemetery, Pulaski, Hancock Co., Illinois.2,3 He married Mary Jane Duval.2 Andrew Jackson Walker was born in June, 1827 at Virginia.2 He married Katherine Ferree in November, 1853.3 Andrew Jackson Walker died on May 22, 1916 at La Prairie, Adams Co., Illinois, at age 88.2,3 He La Prairie Man Summoned Aged Resident of Adams County Dies Suddenly at His Home Monday Evening from Apoplexy. Andrew Jackson Walker, aged 89 years, and one of the oldest residents of this section of the country, died at 5 o'clock Monday evening at his home in LaPrairie from a stroke of apoplexy. He had been in failing health for some time but was working in his garden a short time before his death. Mr. Walker was born in Virginia and came to Illinois when 19 years of age, having resided continually in Adams county with the exception of a short time when he was employed in Keokuk, Ia. He was a member of the 39th Illinois volunteers and served four years in the civil war. He had been a resident of LaPrairie for the past 40 years. Mr. Walker was married to Miss Katherine Ferree of Pennsylvania in November, 1853, and to them were born six children, one of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are: Charles A. Walker of Galesburg, Mrs. Jennie E. McKeowan of LaPrairie, Mrs. Mary Robbins of Montana, Dr. Joel F. Walker of Missouri, and George K. Walker of St. Louis. The deceased's first wife died November 24, 1890, and he was later married to Mrs. Mary Moore in Mt. Sterling. He had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was a regular attendant until his health began to fail. The funeral will be held from the church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with burial in the Pulaski cemetery. on May 23, 1916.3
