Ann will be remembered by many going back to the infant days of local TV, when she joined Mr. Arnold Schiffman in presenting a program discussing the finer points of precious jewelry. She graduated as a certified gemologist from the American Gemology Institute in Los Angeles, Calif., becoming the 21st woman to have achieved this honor and managed Schiffmans at Friendly for many years until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Richard Nothelfer of the home; nephews, Henry, Douglas, and Harold Deese of Newport News, Va; niece, Meredith and husband Wesley Harris of Reidsville; cousins, Juanita Penfield and Joe Gillespie of Winston-Salem; sisters-in-law, Miriam Hubbard of Clearwater, Fla., Virginia Berton of Alexandra, Va; nephews, Neb Bullock and wife Mabel of Raleigh, and Kent Healey and wife Vickie of Chapel Hill; brother-in-law, John B. Waddell and wife Jean of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Helen De Dominick and husband Nick of Norfolk, Va., and Anna Bullock and husband Norman of Warrenton; along with a number of great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, N.C. 27407 and / or First Lutheran Church, 3600 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27410. Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel is serving the family. on November 30, 2003.6

Mrs. Brown will lie in state 30 minutes before the service at the church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
