In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, an infant son, Terry Craig Butcher, daughter, Linda Kay Jones, brothers, David, Oscar Junior and Orval (Smokey) Paxton. She was a retired waitress and cook from Gauley Bridge Bus Station. Surviving are her son, Michael Butcher and wife Hilda of Maysel; nephew, Tommy Butcher, and wife, Dorothy, of Elkview; granddaughter, Carrie McCumbers, and husband, Joey, of Maysel; grandsons, David Jones II, of Gauley Bridge, Terry Jones and wife, Kim, of West Palm Beach, Fla; brothers, Ralph Paxton, and wife, Carol, of Clermont, Fla; son-in-law, David Jones, and wife, Connie, of Evans; and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation center for the excellent and loving care they gave to Elma. Burial will be in Butcher Family Cemetery, Maysel. on November 17, 2009.5

Nanny Macel Bullard Nanny "Macel" (Bullard) Paxton, 81, of Huntsville, Ala., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at home following a lengthy illness. She was a warm and caring person whose family was the center of her world. Macel was born in Granny's Creek, W.Va., on Oct. 18, 1932, the daughter of Harley and Ona (Hunt) Bullard, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband, David Paxton Sr; sons, David Paxton Jr. and Paul Paxton; daughter, Glenna "Jean" Jones and husband, Jerry; grandparents; brothers, Coy Dennis Bullard and wife, Bonnie, Russell Richard Bullard and Larry Gene Bullard; sister, Rosemary Beckett and husband, Loy Richard Beckett; brother-in-law, Carl Hamrick; niece, Barbara (Bullard) Connor; and great-nephew, Joshua Hartzell. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Lasca Kelly Hamrick; daughter and son-in-law, Sondra Lee and Larry Stephens of Buchanan Dam, Texas; son, Kenneth Wayne of St. Albans; sisters, June Kniseley of Roane County, W.Va., and Jeanette Pitsenbarger of Huron, Ohio; granddaughters, Kelly Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas, and Randi Stephens of Bacliff, Texas; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas; and great-grandson, Kristofer Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas. Lasca was born in Morgantown on April 18, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Kelly and Nora Belle Kaufman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth; her daughter, Tina Norene; brothers, Oren, Kess, and Rox; and sisters, Inez, Audra, Neva, Getsell, Madrid, Oma and Swaneda. She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Lee Stephens and husband, Larry, of Buchanan Dam, Texas; son, Kenneth Wayne of St. Albans; granddaughters, Kelly Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas, and Randi Stephens of Buchanan Dam, Texas; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas; and great-grandson, Kristofer Blanscet of Cedar Park, Texas. With a strong work ethic and uncompromising principles, Lasca devoted her life caring for her family. She was an excellent cook and an expert seamstress. She had a gift for home decorating and a passion for plants, especially flowers. But, most of all, she enjoyed keeping her home. After rearing her children, Lasca took up bowling at Venture Lanes, St. Albans. She bowled routinely until the age of 76 in various leagues including the Venturette Ladies (team, Peppermint Patties) and the Kilowatt Mixed (team, Jokers). Lasca loved people and many were drawn by her kind demeanor. She was loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all. The funeral service will be held at Cunningham Memorial Park Upper Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will follow in the memorial park.A very special thank you goes to Sherri Daily and her staff for the wonderful care and love she received at Belle's Assisted Living Home. on December 31, 2009.2

Leona June Hamrick Leona June Kniseley, 88, of Point Pleasant, WV, formerly of Roane County, passed away April 1, 2014, in Pleasant Valley Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born August 1, 1925, in Adair, Clay County, a daughter of the late Ona Byrne and Dorothy (Paxton) Hamrick. Her husband, Clifton Donald Kniseley, and brothers, Kenneth Hamrick and Stanford Hamrick, also preceded her in death. She was a retired registered nurse, and served as the School Health Nurse in Roane County. Survivors include her sons, Donald Kniseley of Brunswick, ME, and Richard Kim Kniseley of Roanoke, VA; daughter, Teresa Kip (Warren) DeVault of Leon; sister, Jeanette Pitsenbarger of Huron, OH, grandchildren, Aaron Kniseley, Marshall Kniseley, Rachel DeVault and Kristin DeVault. Interment will be in the Mt. He was born July 7, 1924, in Braxton County, W.Va., a son of the late James and Audra Kelly Kniseley. He was a 1943 Stonewall Jackson High School graduate and served in the Army Air Force during World War II where he served in the China/India/Burma Theatre. After the war, he enjoyed varied employment during his life including working for Union Carbide, IBM, Compact Sweeper Sales and operating a trucking business while in Kanawha County. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Malden. After moving to Roane County, W.Va., he was a self-employed timberman, dealt in real estate, and served as a Roane County sheriffs deputy. He enjoyed piloting his own plane for many years and recently served as a volunteer co-conductor for the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad's Durbin Rocket Train in Durbin, W.Va. He was a member of the Malden Methodist Church in Kanawha County and attended several other churches. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, June Kniseley; two sons, Donald Lee Kniseley of Brunswick, Maine, and Richard Kim Kniseley and his wife, Connie, of Roanoke, Va; one daughter, Teresa Kip DeVault and her husband, Warren, of Leon, W.Va; two grandsons, Aaron Kniseley of Brunswick, and Marshall Kniseley of Roanoke; two granddaughters, Rachel and Kristin DeVault, both of Leon; and one sister, Mary Elwood of Hamson, Mich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Eula Mae Callison. The body will be cremated with burial at a later date in the Mount Zion Cemetery. on January 6, 2004.2

Marion Junior Pitsenbarger Marion J. Pitsenbarger, age 85, residing in Huron, passed away early Saturday morning May 5, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness. Marion was born on August 15, 1926, in Bingham, W. Va., to Marion E. and Vergie E. (Nutter) Pitsenbarger. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War stationed in Germany. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1984 after 28 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Marion enjoyed the outdoors especially gardening and camping and spent much of his time working on his car, and jig saw puzzles, he most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Marion is survived by his wife Jeanette (Hamrick), whom he married on August 15, 1960; his daughter, Myrna and (Edward) Crubaugh of Norwalk; three grandchildren, Benny, Blain and Cory; one brother, L. Carl Pitsenbarger of Sandusky; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Including his parents Marion was preceded in death by one sister Eunice Mannings; and four brothers, Olen L., Jennings, George G. and Loren R. Pitsenbarger. Services in the Chapel Mausoleum in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
