McPeak Jr. and wife, Christy, of Greenville; daughter, Kate Jackson and husband, Roy, of Pelzer; sisters, Deborah Tolley, Cynthia McPeak and Betty Jo Massey, all of Greenville; brothers, Butch McPeak and Tommy McPeak of Greenville, Donnie McPeak of Travelers Rest; grandchildren, Kelsey McPeak, Jason McLees and Katlyn Jackson; stepsisters, Ashley Phillips and Erica Phillips, both of Iva; and stepbrother, David Phillips of Piedmont. He was predeceased by his grandmother, Mamie Ruth McPeak. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. Visitation: 2 to 3:15 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Anderson, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621, or Anderson Area Cancer Center, 701 N. Minnie Alice Nunn Minnie Alice Nunn Poff was born on June 12, 1926 in Switchback, West Virginia to Wilson Albert and Alice Shaw Nunn and died in Bluefield Community Hospital on March 18, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin R. Poff , two daughters, Linda Poff and Alyce Gay Poff Simplicio, and two brothers, Joe and Woodrow Nunn. Survivors are a son, Robert Poff and wife Nancy of Daniels, West Virginia, four grand-children, Eric Bigfire, who made his home with her, Robert Simplicio of California, Lisa Poff, Princeton,West Virginia, Scott Poff and wife Mary, Charlottesville, Virginia, and one great-grandson, Joe Poff, Charlottesville, Virginia. Minnie is also survived by two sisters, Irma Webb, Bluefield, Virginia, and Margie Pruett and husband Dale of Dover, Delaware. Minnie grew up in Switchback, West Virginia where she attended Switchback Elementary School, and was graduated in 1943 from Elkhorn High School as Salutatorian of her class. After graduation from high school she was employed at Krogers in Northfork. While working there she met Calvin Poff who was in the United States Navy at the time. They were married and lived in the Northfork area for many years. While living at Gilliam, West Virginia, Minnie was the Post Mistress of the Gilliam Post Office. After retirement she and her husband moved to Bluewell, West Virginia, where she lived until her death. Funeral Service will be at Bluewell United Methodist Church, Friday, March 22, 2013 with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Service of Celebration at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Bluefield, Virginia. Gaye graduated from Northfork High School in 1968. She attended and graduated from Riverside Nursing School in 1971 becoming a registered nurse. Gaye worked 21 years at Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital obtaining the position of head nurse of the CCU and Emergency departments. She was certified in several branches of nursing. After her years at Northern Virginia Doctors Hospital, she became Subacute Nurse Manager of HCR Manor Care Arlington. She enjoyed her work there immensely and was loved and respected by her co-workers. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, Anthony Simplicio Jr. and sister, Linda Marie Poff. She is survived by her mother, Minnie A. Poff of Bluewell; brother, Robert M. Poff and wife Nancy of Daniels; sons, Eric Bigfire of Arlington, Robert Simplicio, Amanda Calabrese and son Nathan of Hoffman Estates, Ill; niece, Lisa Poff Palmer of Bluefield and nephew, Robert Scott Poff, wife Mary and son Joey of Williamsburg, Va. Also several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. Gaye was also survived by many loving in-laws, including Josie Kiebler of Silver Springs, Md., Anne and Frank Knauf of Melbourne, Fla., Vasile Simplicio of Walnut Creek, Calif., Antionette Simplicio and George Curletto of NW Washington, Mickey and Eddie Shea of Hyattsville, Md., Nancy Simplicio and Tom Powers of Melbourne, Fla., Judy and Toby Rhodes of Potomac, Md., Luke Simplicio of Northfork and Rosie and Jimmy Owrey of Bluefield. She was also survived by many loving, caring friends. A viewing and service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy's Funeral Home in Falls Church, Va. A service will be provided at 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Dale Pruett. Graveside rites will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Bluefield, Va. at 4 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Gaye's name to the Riverside Hospital, Riverside School of Health Careers, 500 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601. William Warren "Billy" Akers Billy W. Akers, 47, of 902 East 29th St., owner and operator of the Bill Akers Contracting Company, died Friday morning at St. John's Hospital. He had been ill three weeks. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at the Sells and Rowe Funeral Home by the Rev. Monroe Schuster of the Central Christian Church. Interment will be in the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the mortuary after 7 p.m. today. A native of Lathrop, Mo., born Nov. 12, 1921, he was a son of Ernest and Olive Dangerfield Akers, and had attended school in Anderson. He was a member of the Central Christian Church and a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife Marilyn; seven children, Steven Warren Akers (wife, Janie), Jana Marie, Pamela Kay, Jeffrey Ernest, Susan Kay, Marc Stephen and Joseph Andrew Akers, all at home; a brother, Raymond Akers of Anderson; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Michael of Polo, Mo; and a grandchild, Scott A. Akers.5 He was buried at Anderson Memorial Park, 6805 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana.5 He married Marilyn Unknown.5 William Warren "Billy" Akers married Catherine Louise Jarrett.7 William Warren "Billy" Akers was born on November 12, 1921 at Lathrop, Clinton Co., Missouri.5 He died on February 23, 1969 at Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana, at age 47.5
