Mrs. Mayse had been a resident of Summit Square Retirement Community in Waynesboro since May 1999 and had been a resident of Beckley since 1919. She married her late husband, Harry H. Mayse Jr., on March 6, 1946, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith Bruster Gorsica. Survivors include a nephew, John J. Gorsica III and his wife, Mary Agnes, of Waynesboro, Va; a great-niece, Angela Nina Gorsica of Durham, N.C; a great-nephew, John J. She was a member of the United Methodist Temple, Beckley, the Womens Society of Christian Service and Circle No. I of the United Methodist Temple and the Beckley Woman’s Club. Survivors include her husband, John J. Gorsica Jr., of Beckley; a son, John J. Gorsica, III, and his wife, Mary Agnes of Waynesboro, Va; a sister, Mary Alice Mayse of Beckley; a granddaughter, Angela N. Gorsica of Chicago, Ill; and a grandson, John J. Gorsica, IV, of Waynesboro, Va. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Dan Johnson officiating.
