Born March 25, 1938, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late P. Harvey and Mildred B. Dix. She was the wife of Robert Davis Wickham, her husband for more than 53 years. She graduated from Milford Mill High School in 1955 and from Towson State Teachers College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. She then began her life of adventure and world travel when she married her husband. After a career of teaching kindergarten for the Department of Defense, she worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Dixie Horse, and other businesses such as Champion Printing and the Rouse Company. After retiring, she spent her time with family, community service and traveled the country with her husband. She was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church for more than 35 years. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a service organization. In 1986 she joined the Freedom District Lioness Club, Freedom District Lions Club and later the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club. In 2001 she earned one of the Lions Club International's highest honors when she received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for humanitarian service. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Mary Ellen Wickham, of Eldersburg, sons Robert David Wickham and wife Jennifer, of Hanover, Pa., and Matthew James Wickham and wife Masami, of Belleville, Ill; sisters Margaret V. LeVee and husband Guy, and Ann D. Filbey and husband Gordon; a sister-in-law, Alyce Wickham; grandchildren Sean, Marie and Austin Wickham; and five nieces, two nephews, and their families. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, William J. Wickham. on February 7, 2013.1
