James R. Russell James R. Russell, 66, of Martinsville passed from this life on Thursday, September 16th, 2010 at 11:52 PM at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late James Russell and Garnett (Ailes) Chatten. On March 7, 1964 he married Sharon (Shostrand) Russell in Centerton, Indiana at the Centerton Christian Church.
Mr. Russell moved back to Martinsville 8 years ago from New Jersey where he had lived for many years and worked as manager of a mobile home park. He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. During his military career, he was awarded three purple hearts and two bronze stars. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing and meeting with friends to whittle at the park. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, including his wife of 46 years, Sharon (Shostrand) Russell of Martinsville; son, James (Nina) Russell, Jr. of Wyoming; daughters, Candy (Nick) Bilikopoulous of Las Vegas, Tina (Joe) Rogers and Tammy (Tony) Russell of Martinsville; brother, Phillip Russell of Arkansas; sisters, Amber Fleener of Arkansas and April Long of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mitchell Russell.
