     Thomas Franklin Houck Thomas Franklin (Frank) Houck, 88, of Sarton, WV went to live with his Heavenly Father on January 27, 2021. There was certainly a joyful reunion when he was finally able to see his loving wife again so they could worship together. Born January 19, 1933, on Sarton Mountain near Union, WV, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Ethel Houck. Frank lived a life worth being proud of. He retired from running his own business, F and L Office Furniture. His other occupational adventures include carrying grocery bags to cars for tips as a teenager, gas station clerk, apprentice as a lock and safe technician, owning his own lock and safe business known as Security Safe and Lock, serving as a patrolman for Morningside, MD, dabbling in real estate, and finally running F and L Office Furniture. During his time running his safe and lock business, he was able to tour the White House and visit the Oval Office while Dwight D Eisenhower was president. He also did some safe and lock work in a top-secret mountain bunker for the military. He married his wife, Lorena Houck, on May 1, 1953 in northern VA. They met as teenagers at a local square dance. Frank is quoted as saying that he knew that he was going to marry her at first sight. They attended several more square dances where they met the likes of Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Sr., Roy Clark, and Jimmy Dean. He would also call the square dances at times. Their loving marriage brought forth three biological children, five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. They also cared for another child, Tom Smith, for a portion of his young life. He was most recently a member of Mount Alexander Church at Sarton, WV. Frank and Lorena were well-known in the community for being very kind and generous. No matter where they lived, they were community icons, and all neighbors looked up to them. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena; son Tommy of Chesapeake Beach, MD; two sisters, Edna of Pennsylvania, and Iris, also of Maryland. Survivors include one sister, Alma of PA; a son, Aubrey, also of Sarton; a daughter, Dawn and husband, Jim of Jacksonville FL; grandchildren Clint and wife Alicia of Lusby, MD; Jessica and husband Cory of Mechanicsville, MD; Frank Jr and wife Heidi of Sarton; Nicole and partner, Justin, of Sarton; Shaun and wife Ytzury of El Paso, TX. Great-grandchildren include Makai and Emma of Mechanicsville, MD; Lincoln, Colton, Giuliana, and Aurora, of Lusby, MD; Gabriella, Max, Jack, Kellyanne, Carly, Chance, and Hudson of Sarton.⁵ He was born on January 19, 1933 at Wayside, Monroe Co., West Virginia.^4,5 He married Lorena Elizabeth Rhodes on May 1, 1953 at Florida.^5,7,8 Thomas Franklin Houck died on January 27, 2021 at Monroe Co., West Virginia, at age 88.⁵

Fobes, 92, of Sharpsville passed away peacefully on April 27th, 2022 in UPMC Hospital Farrell, PA. Alma was born July 17th, 1929 to Ethel (Furrow) and Aubrey Houck in Beckley, WV. On September 27th, 1947 she married her husband Eugene W. Fobes who passed away March 20th, 2019. She worked most of her life as a waitress in numerous restaurants from Washington D.C. to Mercer County. She was a member of the South Pymatuning Community Church. Alma loved cooking and spending time with her family. In her younger years she enjoyed square dancing, which is where she met her husband Eugene. Alma is survived by her children, Sandra (Tom) Stotler of Berkley Springs, WV, Clyde (Kathy) Fobes of Susquehanna Depot, PA, Ethel Zahniser of Hermitage, PA, and Ernie (Leisa) Fobes of Shenango Township, PA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene W. Fobes, son, Charles (Kathleen) Fobes, and son in law, Delmont Zahniser.      Eugene Wesley Fobes Eugene Wesley Fobes, 93, of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his home in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. Eugene was born on July 8, 1925 to Clyde William and Edna (Burdette) Fobes in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. Later he re-enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Eugene worked as a union carpenter for over 40 years. He also owned and operated his safe and lock business. One day after his discharge from the military he married his wife Alma Maxine (Houck) Fobes, who survives at home. He was a member of South Pymatuning Community Church where he served in their video tape ministry. Eugene was also a member of Masonic Lodge # 517 in Sharpsville, Scout Master in Maryland, member of the carpenters union in Sharon and the Christian Business Men's organization. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Alma Fobes; daughters, Sandra A. (Thomas) Stotler of Berkley Springs, West Virginia and Ethel G. (Delmont) Zahniser of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; sons, Clyde W. (Kathy) Fobes of Eagle Bridge, New York and Ernie F. (Lisa) Fobes of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and nephew, Gary Fobes. He was preceded in death by father, Clyde William Fobes; mother, Edna Fobes; son, Charles Raymond Fobes and brother, Ernest E. Fobes.      John Joseph Sledzinski Sr. was buried at Bloomfield Cemetery, New Bloomfield, Perry Co., Pennsylvania.^3,7 He John J. Sledzinski Sr., 94, of Shermans Dale passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his Carroll Township home. Born September 25, 1927 in Lake Arial, Pa., he was the son of the late Maikel and Teofilia (Klomfas) Sledzinski. He was a patriot and served his country in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a proud farmer and a very active in Shermans Dale Community. He was one of the founders of the Shermans Dale Ambulance Association and the Shermans Dale Riding Club. He was a life member of the Shermans Dale Lions Club and active in 4-H and The Boy Scouts of America activities as well as the Shermans Dale Senior Citizens. Over the years he worked for many businesses. Eaton Deichman Paper Co., John M. Sanderson and many area car dealers. He was the widower of Ethel Sledzinski and Edna Cora Sledzinski. Surviving are his children, John J. Jr. and wife Judy, Aubrey L., David L. and Karen Graybill. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.      Delmont Lee Zahniser was buried at Mount Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Mercer Co., Pennsylvania.^3,4 He Delmont Lee Zahniser, age 71, of Hermitage, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December, 23, 2020 at Sharon Regional hospital. Born August 29, 1949 in Sharon, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn and Irene (Minner) Zahniser. He married the former Ethel Fobes on July 7, 1984 and she survives at home. Delmont was a 1967 graduate of Hickory High School. Upon graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country honorably and faithfully. Upon being discharged from the service he returned home and took a job as a truck driver with Barber’ Chemicals in Sharpsville PA, which he held for 44 years before retirement. Delmont was a member of the Charleston United Methodist Church in Hermitage, PA. His interests included farming, he loved to talk to just about anyone, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karoline Link of, Mercer, PA, Courtney Zuschlag and her fiancé, Stede Hill, of Hermitage, PA, and Corrie Zahniser and her fiance’, Michael Shaffer of Braceville, OH, one brother Robert Zahniser, of Hermitage, PA. and fourteen grandchildren, Shawna, Kylee, Jordan, Walker, Jacob, Olivia, Ashton, Zander, Ava, Landon, Leah, Grayson, Lauren and Mikey and one great-grandchild Asher. He was preceded in death by twin grandsons, Caleb and Mason. Burial will be in Mt. Born April 15, 1938 at Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late Howard Elmer and Daisy Elizabeth Williams Rhodes. She was a census bureau employee and office manager and bookkeeper for the Security, Safe and Lock Co. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Upper Marlboro, MD., she attended the Mt. Alexander United Methodist Church at Sarton and was a member of the Red Hatters. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas “Frank” Houck of Union; 2 sons, Aubrey F. Houck Of Union and Thomas “Tommy” Houck and wife, Dora of Chesapeake Beach, MD; a daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Reicherter and husband, James of Jacksonville, Fla; 5 grandchildren, Clint M.
