Barnette, Jr., 81, of Princeton, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Born in McDowell County May 27, 1935 he was the son of the late Hugh P. and Mabel Gibson Barnette, Sr. He was a retired tractor trailer driver last working for Arkansas Best Freight Systems after working several years with Point Express. He was a member of the Teamsters Union in both Richmond, VA and Charleston, WV. Hugh was a man of strong faith and served as a Lay Minister for several years. He attended the Princeton Church of God and was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, one sister, Naomi Marr preceded him in death.
