He was born November 14, 1958 in the old Lewis Gale Hospital, son of Charlotte Gillespie Garst and the late Joseph Gillespie, Sr. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Yvonne "Vonnie", and his life partner Wanda. Timmy worked at the main post office for many years; and went on to become a professional stone mason, owner and operator of Boones Mill Stone Workx. Timmy was a student at Roanoke Catholic High School, where he excelled in athletics, and academics. He played many sports and helped tutor fellow students in Calculus and Latin. He attended Virginia Tech and became a lifelong Hokies Fan. He enjoyed watching sports, skiing, and fun outings with his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. In addition to his mother and stepfather Jimmy Garst, Timmy is survived by his three children, Shenandoah, Stephanie (Harry), and Joseph; grandchildren, Taeshja, Jaydon, Journey and Bentley; brothers, Joseph (Cristina), Thomas, Vincent, John, and Gary; a sister Teresa "Tessy" (Tony); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Bush and her husband, Larry Bush; brother, Steven "Timmy" Gillespie and his life partner, Wanda; John Gillespie's life partner, Amy; and sister-in-law, Sandy Gillespie (Gary's wife). Tommy is survived by his daughter, Valerie G. Spillman (Mike); his mother, Charlotte Britts Gillespie Garst; his stepfather, Jimmy Garst; his siblings, Teresa "Tessy" G. Minnick (Tony), Joseph A. "Tony" Gillespie Jr. (Cristina), Vincent "Teddy" Gillespie, John E. Gillespie, and Gary Gillespie; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Tommy was a special person with a unique sense of humor that affected everyone. He will be dearly missed by those whom he touched.
