     Carol Ann Barnett was buried at Schowen Cemetery, Bancroft, Putnam Co., West Virginia.2,3 She Carol Ann Barnett Paxton, 57, died Sunday, September 17, 2006, at home after a long battle with colon and liver cancer. She was born in Nitro on December 13, 1948. She was a Christian, a 1966 graduate of Nitro High School, a member of the Nitro Church of God, where she was active in the choir, and a former member of the Nitro Community Chorus. She was a former secretary with the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services, former part-time pharmacy clerk at Fruth Pharmacy in Nitro, and a secretary for the West Virginia Department of Education at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Peggy Kilgore Barnett, infant daughter, Melissa Ellen Paxton and Holly Ann Paxton, maternal grandparents, Fred and Grace Kilgore, paternal grandfather and step-grandmother, Clayo and Virginia Barnett, and paternal grandmother, Luvica Ellen Casto Barnett. Surviving: husband, Jim; son, James Christopher "Chris" Paxton of Poca; daughter, Amy Michelle Paxton Jones of Nitro; grandchildren, Jacob Paxton and Kailey Paxton of Poca; sisters, Sandra Jean Barnett of Tornado and Kathy Ray Barnett Meadows of Charleston; brother, Gregory Kermit Barnett of Winfield; nieces, Megan Hash, Peggy Hash, Kathy Hash, Kerri Barnett, and Katie Barnett; nephews, James Barnett Lovell, Mason Lovell and Ian Hash; lifelong friends, Paula Sparkman, Mary Brady and Janice McMillen. Per Carol's request, a private graveside service was held at Showen Hill Cemetery, Bancroft.2 She was born on December 13, 1948 at Nitro, Putnam Co., West Virginia.1,2 As of September 28, 1968,her married name was Paxton.1 She married James Cladis Paxton, son of Rev. Cladis Doverner Paxton and Myrtle June McCroskey, on September 28, 1968 at Nitro, Putnam Co., West Virginia.1,4 Carol Ann Barnett died on September 17, 2006 at Putnam Co., West Virginia, at age 57.2

He was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Kanawha County to Thurman and Bertie Taylor Paxton. He graduated from Clendenin High School in 1950 and served in the Navy during the Korean War. For the last 47 years of his life, he made his home in St. Albans and retired from Union Carbide Corp. as a master laboratory technician after 40 years of service. He was a character in life and was a true friend to everyone he knew regardless of age or stature. He spent many hours cutting hair and telling jokes to friends throughout the county. He was a man who led by example in the way he treated others in his life, and in his death, as he was an organ donor. One of his fondest memories was the 19 years he spent teaching Sunday school at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in St. Albans. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 50 years, Betty Sparr Paxton. He is also survived by his brother, Kenny of Christiansburg, Va; son, Gary Michael; son, Tim and his wife, Tracey; and daughter, Kathy Lester and her husband, David, all of St. Albans; grandchildren, Christina Paxton Holder, Rebecca Paxton Seeley, and Samantha Paxton, all of Georgia, Shelby Paxton and Katie, Shannon, and Cassidy Lester, of St. Albans; six great-grandchildren. He is also mourned by many loving nieces, nephews and his special friend and brother-in-law, Paul Sparr and his wife, Jewel. on June 2, 2006.2

Born Nov. 30, 1912, at Madison Creek, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Bertha Burgess Paynter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Gaye Paynter; his second wife, Dorothy Jane Paynter; two sisters, Pearl and Goldie Edith Paynter; and six brothers, Arnold, George, Dexter, Eugene, Leonard and John Henry Paynter. Calvin was a retired coalminer, formerly employed by Powellton Coal Company, and was a former logger. He was a member of the UMWA. Calvin was the oldest male member of Mallory Church of God, which he attended for over 40 years. He loved to sing and play gospel music on his guitar and harmonica. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Thelma Canterbury Paynter of Charleston; seven children and their spouses, Lois Brown of Greenville, Tenn., Kathleen and the Rev. James Walker of Oceana, Joyce and the Rev. Phillip L. Cook of Monticello, Fla., Carole Cook of Cyclone, Robert and Judy Paynter of Oceana, Charles and Wendy Paynter of Cyclone and Joseph and Dorothy Paynter of Pineville; one stepdaughter, with whom he made his home, Billie Jones and husband, Jerry, of Charleston; four sisters, Donzel Blankenship of Turkey Creek, Mary Ruth Elkins of Mallory and Bonnie Eldridge and Nancy Miller, both of Cyclone; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. Burial will follow in Cook Cemetery, Cyclone. on February 21, 2006.2
