He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Gretna, He is survived by his wife, Dora Payne Yeatts, and four sons, Fitzhugh, Roy, John and Lester Yeatts, of Gretna; two brothers, Jim Yeatts of Gretna and Raleigh Yeatts, of Charlotte Court House. Flower bearers and pallbearers were members of the Masonic Order, who had charge of the burial service. on August 16, 1939.4

Interment will follow in Gretna Burial Park, Gretna, Va. Ruby was born Nov 8, 1909, in Neuse a rural community near Wake Forest. She was the second of four children born to Robert Henry and Annie Watkins Richards. She lost both her parents by the age of 14. She graduated from Hillsborough High School and went to Kings Business College in Raleigh where she graduated with bookkeeping and accounting degrees. She worked for various companies including Burlington Industries in Burlington, Central Motor Co., McCloud Oil Co., and Foust Oil Co., all of Mebane. She retired from Foust Oil Co. in her 70s. She was known to many friends for her sense of humor and her caring spirit. She loved people and enjoyed traveling and reading. She loved her Lord her family and her church First Baptist of Hillsborough where she served on many past committees. She was an active deacon for four years on the Pastor Search Committee, president of Baptist Women, member of the Seniors Choir and taught the Ladies Fidelis class for 35 years. She always said this was God’s way of teaching her his word. She came to live in Hillsborough in 1945 and in 2004 she moved to Guilford Healthcare Center in Greensboro to be near her niece and caretaker Dorothy Lowdermilk. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Josephine Hester Ferrell; two brothers, James Robert and Rufus Henry Richards; and her three husbands, Buck Danieley, Paul Shelton and Charlie Hines. She is survived by two nieces, Dorothy Lowdermilk and husband Porter of McLeansville and Janice Ward of Burlington; and four nephews, Dr. R. Henry Richards and wife Jean of Los Gatos, Calif., Donald Hester and wife Betty, Durham, Richard Hester and wife Joy of Timberlake, and Gary Hester of Raleigh. She is also survived by a host great-nieces, and nephews, cousins, and her stepson P.A. Shelton and wife, Elizabeth, of Staunton, Va. on May 16, 2007.3

Shelton, Jr., 81 husband of Elizabeth (Biggs) Shelton of 728 Aintree Place, departed this life on Monday, November 2, 2009 in the University of Virginia Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul A. Shelton, Sr of Hillsborough, NC; his mother and step-father, Pauline K. and Stephen A. Sales, Sr. of Clifton Forge and a very special great-uncle, William Kern. Born in Clifton Forge, Virginia on March 7, 1928, he was a graduate of Clifton Forge High School. He served in the United States Army from 1952 1954, was employed by the C & O, Chessie System and CSX Railways, retiring after 44 years of service. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Chapter of the B.P.O.E. for more than 55 years. Known for his sense of humor, P.A. was a dedicated Husband, Father and friend and will be greatly missed. Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Libby (Biggs) Shelton to whom he married on November 2, 1956; a daughter, Leslie Carol Shelton of Staunton; and two sons, Michael Steele Shelton of Staunton and David Carson Shelton of Richmond; two brothers, Allen B. Sales and his wife Mary Ann and Stephen A.
