     Claude Albert Law Claude A. Law, 100, of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born December 6, 1917 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Albert Law and Sophia (Kuhn) Law. He married Mary S. (Rudolph) Law on March 24, 1946 and she preceded him on December 22, 2016. Survivors include four children: sons: Marvin D. Law of Homer, Darrell D. (Terri) Law of Shelbyville; daughters: Claudia D. Simmons of Shelbyville, Colleen K. (David) Miles, Springfield, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, brothers: Richard Law, Robert Law, Kenneth Law, Chester Law; sisters: Mildred Adams, Mary Katheryn McVey; and sons-in-law, Terry Simmons. Mr. Law had lived his entire life in this area, and was a lifelong self-employed farmer. He graduated from Waldron High School, and was a lifetime member of Zion United Church of Christ, a member of Shelby County Beef Association, Indiana Beef Association, Indiana & National Red Poll Cattle Association, and was a long time 4-H leader. He was a World War II US Army veteran, attaining rank of Private Fist Class, serving in the European Theatre. Claude enjoyed hunting in his earlier years, mushroom hunting, and watching sports on TV. He loved his family and grandchildren and spending time with them. He was born on Oct. 24, 1949, in Shelbyville to Gerald "Jerry" and Florence (Niesse) Simmons. Mr. Simmons was a Marine Corps Veteran, having served in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Claudia Law Simmons of Indian Trail, N.C; sons, Shawn Simmons of Shelbyville, Aaron Simmons of Greenfield, and Kevin Simmons of Indian Trail, N.C; one grandson; sisters, Nancy (Norman) Hasecuster of Greenfield and Mary Jane (Charles) Plymate of Evansville, Ind; stepsisters, Rose (Rusty) McAdams of Franklin, Ind., Marilyn (Fred) Mallory of Churchville, Penn. and Wanda (Jim) Ferguson of Edinburg, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Agnes Simmons; sisters, Pat Armstrong and Ida Rork; brothers, Gerald "Sonny" Simmons, Steve Simmons and Clement Simmons. Burial will follow in Whispering Hope Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville. on December 2, 2012.³ He died on December 3, 2012 at Union Co., North Carolina, at age 63.^3,4

     Thomas C. "Tom" Thompson Thomas C. Thompson, age 88 of Kingman passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Crawfordsville on August 9, 1930 to Leo & Pearl (Reynolds) Thompson. Tom graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1948 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On February 20, 1955 he married the love of his life, Evelyn J. (Rudolph) Thompson, who survives. He was a member of the Yeddo Baptist Church. Throughout the years he was a farmer, worked at Impex and was a truck driver for Overpeck Gas Company for 16 years. He was a hard worker, enjoyed playing golf with his son, and working in their huge garden. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn; three children, Gregory (Beth) Thompson of Cedarsburg, WI, Linda Millikan of Terre Haute, and Michael (Kelly) Thompson of Crawfordsville; a brother, Leo (Betty) Thompson of Crawfordsville; 6 grandchildren, Adrianne, Whitney, Samantha, Brandi, Amanda, and Kristina; 10 great grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon & David Thompson; two sisters, Geraldine Coover and Mary Albin. She was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Quincy. She was adopted by Charles I. and Nettie E. Jobe Calvin. She married John Robert Fox in 1967 in Jacksonville; he preceded her in death in 1998. Mrs. Fox had been a housekeeper at Westfair Baptist Church for seven years and later at Passavant Area Hospital for 14 years. She was an active member of Faith Tabernacle in Jacksonville. Survivors: two sons, Robert Fox of Jacksonville and David (wife, Melissa) Fox of Cottage Hills; and five grandchildren. Burial: Memorial Lawn Cemetery, south of Jacksonville. on December 23, 2001.¹

Burial will be in the Plato Center Cemetery. Fred married Lorraine E. Walters on Nov. 7, 1953, in Huntley. He was then drafted into the Navy, serving from 1955 to 1957. Fred and Lorraine were Plato Center residents for 32 years where he operated Fred's Garage in Plato Center for 20 years. He was appointed Plato Township Road Commissioner in 1987 and served 12 years, retiring in 1999. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; children, Caroline (Frank) Childers of Plato Center and Frederick W. Jr. (Donna) Ermel of Lexington, S.C; grandchildren, Frankie (Angie Maddox), Nicky and Angie Childers and Jeremy and Jonathan Ermel; great-grandson, Jacob Childers; sisters, Phyllis Ewert of Genoa, Julie Mullen of Huntley and Marilyn Thomason of Westfork, Ark; brothers, Louis (Luisa) Ermel of Elgin, Paul (Karen) Ermel of Ransom and Ron (Linda) Ermel of Elgin; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Marie; an infant sister, Patty; and his parents. on February 15, 2002.⁴

He was the son of Otto and Emma (Hammel) Bottcher, Sr. On September 10, 1941, he married Eva Walters in Huntley. He farmed all his life - the past 17 years in the North Boone area and previously in the Dundee area. He was a member of the Capron Lutheran Church, a 25 year past member of AMPI and Hampshire Milk Producers. Survivors include his wife, Eva; one daughter, Mrs. Stevon (Bonnie) Rankins, Woodstock; three sons, Joe (Clarenee Jr.) of Capron; Donald ahd Dale of Belvidere; 14 grandchildren and three brothers, Wilfred of West Chicago, Otto Jr., Algonquin and Arthur of Harvard. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Barbara Ruth in 1959, his parents, and one brother, Albert. Burial was in the East Dundee cemetery. on September 3, 1980.⁶
