He was a member of UMWA Local Union 7086 at Stotesbury. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Magie Ashley Richards, at home; two sons, Cecil and Earl, both of Sophia; two daughters, Mrs. Barney (Ruby) Billings of Newport News, Va., and Mrs. Pauline Terry of Sophia; six brothers, Claude and Raymond, both of Midway, Floyd, Clifford and Edgar, all of Sophia and Harold of Detroit, Mich; four sisters, Mrs. Norvell (Lilly) Polk of Midway, Mrs. Lee (Hazel) Eller of Sophia, Mrs. Curtis (Reba) Smith and Mrs. Herschell (Helen) Shields, both of New Richmond and eight grandchildren. on June 29, 1967.5

Survivors include a son, Clifford Jr., Crab Orchard; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Vickers, of Killeen Army Base, Texas; three brothers, the Rev. Edgar Richards, and Floyd Richards, both of Sophia, and Claude of Midway; three sisters, Mrs. Lee (Hazel) Eller, Sophia, Mrs. Norville (Lilly) Polk, Midway, and Mrs. Hershel (Helen) Shields; New Richmond. Friends may call at the Williams Funeral Home, Sophia, from 6. p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. The body will be taken to the church an hour prior to the funeral. Pallbearers will be Norman and Billy Boggs, Bernard Eddwards, Millard Powers, and Donald and Clyde Weddle. on May 17, 1972.6

Edgar Richards, all of Sophia, and Harold, Detroit, Mich; four sisters, Mrs. Norvell (Lilly) Polk, Midway, Mrs. Lee (Hazel) Eller, Sophia, and Mrs. Hershell (Helen) Shields and Mrs. Curtis (Reba) Smith, both of New Richmond; and five grandchildren. The body will remain at the Fred X. Williams Funeral Home in Sophia where friends may call after 5 p.m. today and will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be Bob and Elbert, Lilly, Darius Bennett, Elgic McComas, Jack Tyree, and Tom Farley. on September 30, 1969.5
