Mr. Lightle died Wednesday in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. He was born in Monroe Township and graduated from Jefferson Township High School and Ball State. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1965 from Van Buren High School (now Eastbrook Community Schools) after 16 years of employment, including several years as assistant principal. He also had taught at Bluffton and Adams Central before moving to Van Buren. Mr. Lightle also retired in 1982 from the U.S. Postal Service after 18 years of employment, and he had owned and operated Lightle Trailer Park since 1964. He was a member of the Arcana Lodge 427, F&AM, and American Legion Post 138, and he had been a trustee for Jefferson Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Frances Lightle; a daughter, Lois Bragg (husband: Cliff); a son William Lightle (wife: Vera); two sisters, Ona Bonewit and Elizabeth Sloderbeck (husband: Bud); five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother are deceased. on August 29, 1997.5
